Bing launches COVID-19 tracker
The good folks at Bing, Microsoft’s default search engine, announced the launch of a new web portal that allows people to track coronavirus COVID-19 infections around the world. The web portal is accessible at Bing COVID Tracker

Michael Schechter, General Manager for Bing Growth and Distribution at Microsoft, had this to say:

“Lots of Bing folks worked (from home) this past week to create a mapping and authoritative news source for COVID-19 info. Clicking any location on the map will bring up news relevant to that location.”

Microsoft Bing’s new web portal enables access to a simple (yet effective) tracker. It comprises information like a total number of COVID-19 cases across the globe. These numbers are further divided into three subcategories: Active cases, recovered cases, and fatal cases.

At the time of writing this story, the tracker lists 168,890 total number of COVID-19 infections around the world. These numbers further group into 84,613 active cases, 77,761 recovered cases, and 6,516 fatal cases.

It also shows the latest news articles and videos related to coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak. Currently, the tracker is a basic one and it only provides users with country-wise data.

Meanwhile, Bing is working to add a new feature that will provide users with links to resources from officials in each respective country. Bing says they are working on the feature at the moment and it should be live next week.

Bing is also working on a dedicated website within the portal which will offer “more granular case details for each country.”
