but most of the time I resist.

Celebrate the victories, and learn from what led to those victories.

What is it about the circumstances surrounding the times that give you the strength and motivation to resist?

Try to replicate those circumstances, that mind set, those surroundings, that atmosphere,whatever is going on during those good times and apply them to when you experience the difficult times.

I believe that by focusing on what makes things work in your favor, and using those circumstances, may just contribute to gradually increasing the percentages of those victorious times.

You may still have the thoughts, but thoughts are not actions, and if you develop strategies that place you in a frame of mind where you remain in control, you might just overcome many of those intrusive thoughts.

After all, the goal should be to have more good days than bad days and it sounds like you are making progress in that direction.
