I decided to begin an information blog for my project on Blogger, and I'm having trouble learning the difference between the blog url and the rss url (?). I see that Dr. Baxter wrote something about this in the initial post, having to add a certain text to the end of the blogger url (?) but I don't quite understand this...

I guess I don't really understand what rss feed means, and I can't seem to find the information on Blogger itself.

Blogger can be a problem for RSS feeds because by default it uses a different format called Atom. Some "news readers" can't read Atom feeds; pretty much all of them can read RSS or RSS2 feeds.

My best recommendation to people using blogger is to set up a Feedburner account. You register as a user and provide the link to your blog. Feedburner then gives you a special link using the feedburner service which converts your blog feed into RSS format.

Then come back here and enter that Feedburner in the appropriate field in your UserCP and it will then show up under your name with each post (it may take 30-60 minutes for it to show up, since the forum only updates once or twice an hour).

Since I only began the blog this morning and have exactly one post, I wonder if it would be easier just to use WordPress instead? I haven't really gone over to the WordPress site. Does it cost anything?

I will probably be able to figure out how to use either Feedburner (with Blogger) or Wordpress by itself, but I doubt I can do so tonight. I'm a bit fried -- if anyone's been following the "upheaval" thread. I'm still waiting for the refund to post, and I haven't slept or eaten for some time.

I got about an hour of sleep, and awoke refreshed. So I tackled the blogging issue -- such fun I have never known! It's great to have a real blog for once, and not just a diary of sorts.

Now, I will go back and read this whole thread, to see if I can grasp the thing about the rss feed.

Wow, that was easy. Since I'm using Wordpress, all I had to do was add /feed at the end of the url to the blog. That's great the way you've got it set up to lead to the latest blog post, David. Kudos!
