If you're fascinated by body language as I am, and if you have Netflix check out Lie To Me.

Lie to Me is a TV series that ran on Fox from 2009 to 2011. The story lines are a little hoaky at times, but the premise is actually based on a real live body language consultant who roots out liars on behalf of people who hire him.

The episodes follow an identical pattern of recounting two different situations, each of which usually concludes unpredictably.

It's not a rocket science series, and could best be described as a guilty pleasure for us folks who are fascinated by body language...

Some of Amy Cuddy's statements at the beginning sound superficial, on top of it in the first half of the presentation she looks fake, not fully engaged or believing in what she is saying. The second half is so much better, as she sounds passionate and more engaged, also presents more valuable info. Lol I wrote this about the faking before getting to the end of it. Interesting video, thanks

Doesn't it look like she was speaking on "autopilot" as though she has given the same presentation many many times before, and looked like she was thinking of what she was having for dinner that night, while giving her talk.....with her eyes focused on infinity while talking.

I agree, it seems she wasn't talking to the audience, but talking at them.

Body language reveals a great deal, doesn't it?

Thanks for posting this! I may just have to check out that series on Netflix, too, although so many great programs I have to catch up on. I also appreciate the story our body language announces. On my mother's side there is this weird pronounced "slump" neck thing going on. I've since corrected my posture, but it does make one look constantly like they are bowing to everyone, or afraid they're going to get smacked upside the head, or aren't very proud of themselves. I got bugged in high school because I walked with that pronounced hunch. Someone said I looked like a turtle... Although I really like actual turtles, I didn't take it as a compliment. lol My mom and my aunt and uncle, and my gramma and a few cousins always seemed to have that posture. None of us had any issues with vertebrae or anything that would cause it physically. I think it is at least partially why I have some neck and headache issues nowadays.

No one on my dad's side has any particular posture/pose issues. Or at least nothing collective like on my mom's side.

Anyone else ever heard of this sort of thing?

lol I realized about half way through the video I was in a low power, folded-up posture in my chair, so I uncrossed my legs and put my hands on my hips instead of on my chin! ^_^

Wow, when she was talking about feeling like an imposter, I can totally identify with that. Sometimes I don't feel like I belong, for example, where I work.
