Hi all!

I'm a student and aspiring clinical psychologist. I should probably also mention that I am (and have been), in therapy for years as a patient. My main interests are BPD and other affective disorders, and transference and the psychotherapeutic dyad. I've actually just embarked on writing a book addressing the subject of transference for the layperson -- an idea that came to me after answering a question online regarding the phenomenon.

That being said, I'd absolutely love to talk to (and answer), any questions regarding transference, etc. I hope to share stories with other patients and draw support from each other.

I hope to hear from you!

in transference are you referring to how a memory transfers or "jumps" from a past experience to a present experience? I am curious, and uneducated. If this is what you are referring to, I am but one, with both a history and analitic hypothesis regarding this particular issue and my personal ideas in that subject. sorry for the horrible spelling. I am not accustomed to this.

Oh good. After reading the definitions, I got it right! I think cognitive behavior therapy helps to re-direct unwanted transferences as the person learns to recognize these connections. Taking the time and allowing the realization of where the unwanted emotions that are triggered comes from, a person can learn to separate the reality of the present from the past, or alter their perspective on experiences. Much more....etc's!
