Hello All,
I'm new here but really an oldie when it comes to coping with some of my demons. I've been living with depression and anxiety for almost 20 years. Most days are good but with fall and winter approaching my moods tend to deteriorate. I try to get outside most days for sun exposure and take vitamin D to help combat my SAD related symptoms. I take a very low dose of mirtazapine at bedtime so that I sleep through the night. As long as I get a good night's sleep things work out pretty well. I've been weaned off other meds over the last few years and find this is all I need now. Having friends, a good therapist, getting enough rest, eating well and avoiding processed foods as much as possible helps tremendously.
This December will be my 21st anniversary without alcohol - it's been a constant struggle. I've been through the 12 step program and recommend it highly - it does save lives and one's sanity.
