There is in every true woman's heart a spark of heavenly fire, which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity; but which kindles up, and beams and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.

Washington Irving

Most of my major disappointments have turned out to be blessings in disguise. So whenever anything bad does happen to me, I kind of sit back and feel, well, if I give this enough time, it'll turn out that this was good, so I shouldn't worry about it too much.
~ William Gaines

Allow Events to Change You: You have to be willing to grow. Growth is different from something that happens to you. You produce it. You live it. The prerequisites for growth: the openness to experience events and the willingness to be changed by them.
-Bruce Mau, designer

The happiness of life is made up of minute fractions?the little, soon forgotten charities of a kiss or a smile, a kind look or heartfelt compliment.
-Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Realize that true happiness lies within you. Waste no time and effort searching for peace and contentment and joy in the world outside. Remember that there is no happiness in having or in getting, but only in giving. Reach out. Share. Smile. Hug. Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself.
-Og Mandino

How lovely to think that no one need wait a moment, we can start now, start slowly changing the world! How lovely that everyone, great and small, can make their contribution toward introducing justice straightaway... And you can always, always give something, even if it is only kindness!
-Anne Frank

Take chances, make mistakes. That's how you grow. Pain nourishes your courage. You have to fail in order to practice being brave.
~ Mary Tyler Moore

Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you will see farther.
-Orison Swett Marden

An aim in life is the only fortune worth the finding; and it is not to be found in foreign lands, but in the heart itself.
-Robert Louis Stevenson

Thank You

To hear the words "thank you for being my friend" is a testament to your being. To say the words "thank you for being my friend", is a testament to your nakedness. If I heard the words, unsolicited by any action of my own making, "thank you for being my friend", I would certainly cry. Can you understand how one might have tears in their eyes while hearing such a thing? .......Miller

I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

"When you're young, you always feel that life hasn't yet begun - that "life" is always scheduled to begin next week, next month, next year, after the holidays - whenever. But then suddenly you're old and the scheduled life didn't arrive. You find yourself asking, 'Well then, exactly what was it I was having - that interlude - the scrambly madness - all that time I had before?' " ~ Douglas Coupland (Life After God).

"When the power of love overcomes the love of power then the world will know peace."

-Jimi Hendrix

Although I think he may have taken the idea from William E. Gladstone, who said;

"We look forward to the time when the Power of Love will replace the Love of Power. Then will our world know the blessings of peace."

I prefer Jimi's quote because I think it's simpler and also more eloquent.

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes it is a quiet voice at the end of the day, saying?"I will try again tomorrow."
