In some places in Arizona, they already have autonomous self-driving vehicles (in pre-tested areas like certain neighborhoods) for Walmart delivery and eventually for UPS:

Waymo to move packages for UPS in Arizona this quarter - Business Insider

Waymo launched Waymo One, the first commercial autonomous ride-hailing service in the US, in parts of Arizona in 2018. Last year, the company began removing safety drivers from some of the vehicles used in the service. The company is now seen by many experts as the leader in the autonomous-vehicle industry.

Incidentally, @gooblax, I have never had an eye exam go wrong. Or even personally heard of one go wrong as far as getting the wrong prescription. It can be a little nerve wracking when the doctor asks "Which is better: number 1, number 2, or about the same." My answer is sometimes "go back" so he can show me again. But even before I had the confidence to do that, they usually go back anyway when they notice me hesitating or saying "ughh...." But even when I have done it fast, they always get the prescription perfect.

I'm feeling more nervous about it today than I was yesterday. I didn't get much sleep last night so am tired this morning which won't help matters.
I didn't even consider the 'which is better' stage of the eye exam... So now I'm going to look for youtube videos of people getting eye exams - hopefully it'll be boring by the time I have mine.

I myself have an eye exam scheduled next week since my glasses are all scratched up after two years. Personally, I like Oakley frames. (And I already called my eye clinic to see if they have the Airdrop frames in stock, which they do. The Airdrops are marketed to both men and women and are similar to some of their other frames, which are all on Youtube.)

I'll swap appointments with you if you'd like ;) Mine's in 10mins and I'm sitting outside... Just need to get up the nerve to go in. It's an awkward location right beside a cafe. I'm sure it'll be fine once I go in but just stressing out a bit. There was someone at one desk but they seemed to be talking to someone else. Two other people have gone inside while I've been writing this message.

Haha I know right *facepalm*

All done with the eye test. He said there were no problems and I don't need glasses. Just recommended that I don't put my monitor on the highest resolution. So that's cool.

Now to figure out what else to do while I'm at the supermarket before heading home. Need to calm down from the post-interaction anxiety now lol

Congrats! With the money you just saved by not needing eyeglasses, you can get two pairs of sunglasses

Now that you mention it I probably should get a new pair of sunnies (but I wasn't mentally prepared for that so it would have to be another trip). The ones I've got now were emergency replacements for ones that I lost at Heathrow Airport and they're probably not rated for Aussie sun exposure. It was nuts to me that I didn't get sunburned while I was overseas cause I burn really easily here.

Today is my last chance to cancel my session without getting charged the fee.
I'm not going to cancel because I want to have the session, but I don't want to want to.

I have a plan of what I'd like to talk about, but I haven't thought through the important topic of what I'd like to work on this year. Not sure if it's a bad plan to just bring up last year's goals (which we briefly went through at the end of last year) and discuss their applicability plus the "how can I make better use of your skills" question that I mentioned in this thread a few pages ago. I'm uncomfortable with how unstructured that discussion might be.

I'm also preparing myself to have to tell him that I don't want to get bogged down in details about the holiday break at the start of the session, even though it relates to the goals... I think the time would be better spent discussing
(a) how I'm still very conflicted about having sessions and
(b) the hurt feelings from sessions in 2008, time permitting.

Regarding goals:

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/feeling-our-way/201603/therapy-goals-yours-mine-and-ours

Many therapists don’t set goals with patients. Some assume the goals are implicit and need not be stated overtly. Freud said the goals of psychoanalysis are love and work. Winnicott added play. Adler added doing something for others. If therapists don’t set goals, it’s often because they and their patients understand that the goal is to find love, work engagingly, enjoy life, or feel their lives have meaning. I prefer to make these goals explicit, even if they never come up again...

That's kind of (see below) how I defined my goals last year - in terms of things I'd like to start doing, or do differently (articulated in the positive where possible). It's really a matter of deciding if they're still applicable.

"Kind of" because miracle is too much of a leap, so a very-measured-miracle is more like it.
