Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

I started reading about them a while back since they keep popping up on searches. They entered the Canadian market in the last year or 2 but they have great reviews everywhere. Although a 65" 6 Series would have been nicer, common sense (plus being a stingy miser) dictated that this was the best price/quality/size combination and there is the fact that I'm not even 10 feet from the TV sitting on my couch. even the 58" is big here. Nothing comparable comes anywhere near the price and those that come somewhat near are cheap like RCA and older year models.

I'll definitely post my impression of it when I get a chance to try it out. Can't stream 4K on my internet so will need to download something with great action scenes to see what 4K HDR10 looks like in real life. Definitely looking forward to seeing what upscaling is like. I do remember DVD to HD upscaling made my old DVD collection nicer when I got my Blu-Ray player compared to watching them on the DVD player.

No rush. I can't justify any purchases until Black Friday :D

I am still enjoying though my robot vacuum from the last Black Friday. The Roomba gets every speck of dirt!

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

I've decided I would like a roomba.

Re: glue... If any of your fingers get stuck and you don’t have acetone, I’ve soaked my hand in hot water and gently/gradually pulled my fingers apart.

What’s annoying is when you’re using toothpicks and paper towels to prevent a mess and eventually you find that those things, plus whatever you were trying to glue back together, are ALL glued together. To your fingers. *sigh*

I have glued the occasion small wound, but when ya slice something other than the tomato, I’m not thinking,” Hmmm, where’s that glue?” It’s usually automatically grabbing a paper towel and applying pressure. lol

Isn’t it weird that when fingertips heal/grow back you don’t seem to have any lasting missing pieces or scars? Or maybe it’s because I constantly whittle down my fingers like a squirrel has to chew to keep its teeth from growing too long. Hmmm. I wonder if I stop doing things... Would my fingers grow longer? I’ve always wanted to play guitar...

Note to Future @gooblax:

Don't fix broken nails with superglue and teabags. Or superglue and anything.

In fact, don't use superglue for anything. :panic:
I've never actually had problems using superglue either. The closest to a problem was this time, since I was intentionally sticking it to myself and I did get a little bit where I didn't want it but that came off easy enough.

I did have to do something about the nail though. The way I'd damaged it meant that there was a 270degree range where it could (and did) painfully catch on anything it brushed against. Initially thinking the teabag reinforcement was overkill I had to go buy some clear nail polish and that split through within 2 days. Since I had a tube of superglue handy (which magically was able to be opened to use for a second time! Normally I do have the single-use problem too.) it was time to bring out the big guns. I think you're supposed to use "nail glue" whatever that is, but I've already now got a useless thing of nail polish I wasn't about to go out again to try and find another random product. Pleasantly surprised at how well it's worked out for the moment. :)

An antibiotic ointment for the eye is still packaged in a small tube like superglue:

I knew an elderly person with vision problems who confused one for the other. Needless to say, it was a painful ordeal even after the ER visit.

1. Found a good cookbook (Instant Pot Miracle) at Target. (Felt nostalgic buying a book in a retail store.)

2. Found new items at the dollar store, including frozen vegan "meatballs"!

3. Found dog treats that support disabled vets.

The way things are going, dog treats are getting healthier than most snack foods.

Yes, support a business that supports people that got injured and disabled by the same animals you're giving treats to.
Those poor vets that have to work with mean dogs and get bit for helping. It's a tough job. :coffee:

For some reason I was thinking you meant dehydrated marijuana... “Just add water!”

 Never even thought of the pot reference. Good one.

I think they would grow great in Cheech and Chong Chia Pets :D

1. Obtaining interesting connections on LinkedIn.
2. No longer cold during the day. (Just at night and early morning.)
3. Lower gas prices make it harder to skip the gym.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

1 - just watched the most thrilling display of world class women’s tennis. Had recorded the Indian Wells final to wAtch tonight. 6th seed Kerber vs 60th seed 18 year old Canadian Andeescu. In the 3rd set Anreescu was dealing with extreme pain, cramping and discouragement yet managed to o overcome and win it in 3 sets to become the youngest winner since Serena Williams in 1999 (pretty cool exactly 20 years after Serena)

2 - Borm in Canada from Romanian parents and returned to Romania she decided she wanted to come back to pursue her career through Tennis Canada 🇨🇦 Was ranked 263rd in the world in October 5 months later after getting a wLk on to Indian Wells ranked 60th she now is the 24th seed in WTA at the ripe old age of 18. That’s 239 ranking spots in 5 months! And what a show they both put on.

3 - I got some good rest this afternoon and managed to get some more sorting done. I think I must have moved the tools I placed on the storage shelves around 10 times to best organize. So that I can get the most out of the space. Still looks as if nothing is done but I know progressing along even if sometimes it don’t seem like it. Once I finish de cluttering the tool bins and temp boxes from the living room it will finally show I have made some great progress. Then I can start getting ready for the new TV arriving technically Tuesday.

Getting there slowly but surely!

1. A new pizza place opened up in our area (relatively close by). Unlike the other pizza place, they are open every day.

2. Went from only 5 connections on LinkedIn to almost 130 in less than 3 days.

3. Canned dog food was on clearance at Walmart. Filled half a cart with it.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

Haha 😂 that actually rings back memories of back in 2006 or 2007 when my 51” rear projection TV had a cracked screen (long story) I went to Visions and 42” LCD were over 2000$ and as I was looking around there was this humongous 65” rear projection TV (can’t remember but I think if it was a Panasonic and was the top end with HDMI and full HD. they were going for 6,000$ had a massive sound system built in the bottom. So with LCD now the big sellers rear projection TV were being liquidated. It was marked to clear the floor at 1999$ So as I’m looking at it of course the salesman pops by and asks if I would like more info. I said yes: can you tell me how much it weighs? Says I don’t know it it heavy. Can you find out for me because I’m really interested. Now the poor dude is dazed and confused that as much as he tries to sell me on the super specs of it I’m not interested in more info than what’s on the little info card and how much it weighs. Then he says I think we have the box in back weight should be written on it. would you like me to go check? Yes please. Comes back a little scared to tell me it weighs 270 lbs. so i ask free delivery? Yes. Ok I’ll take it. So curiosity really had him spiked. Why the weight was the deciding factor.

i said I live in the North End. If they break in and want to steal my TV they’re gonna have to work really friggen hard for it. I said those LCDs are cool but one dude walks out with it under his arm. The professional delivery company guys had a hell of a time getting it in so I knew it probably wouldn’t be going anywhere if they broke in to my house :D

back then i had satellite service with an HD receiver tv looked horrible on SD stuff but wow when it was in HD I remember watching a news thing and I could clearly see the guys acne scars. Everything is in the details lol

Something is screwed up though. Says shipped since Saturday and purolator tracking still says “shipping label created” called earlier was not given a good reason as to why it’s not shipped since it’s 2 day guaranteed prime delivery. All I got was a 15$ credit on my next order. Could also have been picked up and not scanned but somewhere since there should be a on route scan
