Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

1.) Toasty in the house.
2.) Love to be “stuck” with my husband & dog.
3.) So happy I have my supports: COAST, my psychologist, my psychiatrist, and YOU lovely people! 🥳

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

  1. Yesterday I picked a new task to work on, after progressing the others as far as possible while waiting for input.
  2. Spent 2 hours at a 'milestone celebration' instead of doing any actual work.
  3. Got aircon at work (although it's set too cold at the moment so I have a jumper on).

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

1 - Thanks to the recent temperatures I have not been out for a smoke in a few days.

2 - Really excited today. The manager is collecting the rents this morning since he won't be around tomorrow. Once he gives me the receipt for the garage for February my car get's to hibernate indoors for what is normally the last really bad month of winter. Maybe I'll be lucky and they won't have the life lease and suite ready for March and I'll get another month in the garage. Just the fact I had one of the coveted indoor garages for 7 1/2 months after being here only 4 1/2 months was literally a miracle. some have been waiting for years... Then there's normally a seniority waiting list followed by "insider related cut-ins" and well 2 very important facts are also involved: I'm an outsider and I'm not a Mennonite .

3 - There is a glimmer of hope blowing in the cold frosty air this morning: It should be warming up for Saturday when I have to go to Steinbach for my injection and so far I don't have to go to Winnipeg till the 11th to see Doc.

BONUS: No back pain waking up this morning

EDIT: Checks taken + Receits in hand = Me and my car both have a warm place to live for the month of February. Sweet! :)

1 - went out ( for a smoke) at my usual spot on the east side of the building-31c not bad in running shoes and no gloves but the southern wind chill at -40c definitely makes its presence felt. Took about 5 seconds breathing out my nose to feel my mustache frosting up :D

2 - I get to technically go back to sleep till my laundry time at 1:00. Got woken up around 5:00 neighbor can be quite noisy when she bumps around...

3 - my clonazepam is kicking in and my phone going into do not disturb as soon as I hit post.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Daniel: Have the states caught a little bit of a chil?

FMN: Get that HSB of yours to get that heat working! That’s getting pretty close to cruel and unusual punishment :panic:

got heat up to 60 degrees now with fire stove blasting
moved twin to new apartment and visited with my daughter as well
tired now put the laundry on now just going to stand in front of fireplace to defrost

I don't have a fireplace but a couple of times lately I just turned on the oven with the door half open and stood in front of it while I was waiting for coffee... :coffee:

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

That’s ok I have my oven on pretty much all the time last couple days since I haven’t cleared out the bins from in front of the baseboard heater in living room with my back and procrastination. And with a pot of water on the heat vent it also adds a bit of humidity. When it got really cold I just open the door. Mind you hydro included in rent. But don’t think it makes a difference using oven or baseboard heater.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

1 - Almost made the month under budget... Dang deals... oh well only $15.63 over budget for the whole month. Close enough LOL

2 - Been wanting a few specialty items for the kitchen for years. Pressure cooker, rice cooker, and especially a yogurt maker. Storage and kitchen space here and no really good deals put that on the back burner for a long time since all of the above are expensive...

3 - 1 is because of 3, and 3 fixes 2 at 50% off - all in one and a pretty decent size, great reviews and 1200w element. Seems pretty cool. I'm sure miss muffet will love the smaller size pressure cooker (she has a big monster one and uses it all the time) and I'll finally get to make my own yogurt etc... no more of this watered down store 1.5% fat stuff. Probably take a while to figure everything it does out. Anyway ordered it and should get it by Feb 7th.But they usually get here faster than expected delivery date. Actually excited as long as I don't get another dud from amazon

Instant Pot DUO Plus 8 Qt 9-in-1 Multi- Use Programmable Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Rice Cooker, Yogurt Maker, Egg Cooker, Saut Kitchen

BONUS: I got a good laugh when I read "And it makes cake too" Going to have to try that just for the fun of it

1 - My Instant Pot shipped today (can't wait to get it and try it)

2 - Was reading about making yogurt with it and read a few comments about the possibility of the pressure cooker cover and rings imparting a taste from other foods cooked in it. Some suggested having a spare sealing ring others suggested getting a regular lid for it since making yogurt isn't done under pressure cooking mode.

Looked on amazon for the fun of it... Sure like I'm going to pay 37$ + tax for a 10" glass lid

Well looky here… Look what my big Kitchenaid large pot has as a cover... 10" on the nose, paid for 12 years ago and still like new. Now my rarely used large pot cover has just become a 2 in 1 multi-use one and no vent hole so probably even better for making yogurt :)

3 - Arctic cold spell seems to have broken in time for heading out tomorrow

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

1 - Even though the garage I have (till the end of Feb) isn't technically heated just the heat from the building keeps it above freezing and considering it was -40 for a for a good part of the week and that the warmest it got since was -11C, I was surprised when I noticed I had forgotten a water bottle and it wasn't frozen not even a sign that it could have frozen even a bit. I even tasted it; not even near "brain freeze" cold either!

IMG_0941.JPG

2 - With the deep cold we had some side streets are pretty slick, especially at intersections where the sand has been spun away. Really happy I have winter tires and ABS brakes!

3 - Went to Walmart... Green bell peppers are like at insane prices... almost 4$ a LB :panic:
BUT.... check what I stumbled upon right below all them expensive green ones...

IMG_0940.JPG
Picked up 6 nice ones and even snapped off 2 stems (hate paying for branches) 1.67 kg (about 3.7 lbs) for $2.31 :woohoo:
Going to dice them up and freeze them for future use (hopefully tomorrow)

You would have loved the prices in the grocery stores in Mexico. I was tempted to buy a suitcase and fill it with groceries :)

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

Well those peppers are product of Mexico so I can just imagine buying direct.
there are sites that give you an idea of how well you can live in some countries on the equivalent of homelessness income here and in the states.

The only downside to it is the local criminals also knows this and they are targeting more and more pensioners and tourists in most countries where a buck can go far.

Here in Ontario, the Frump... err... Ford government now allows A Buck A Beer.

We actually wanted better programs. That's what we got instead.

But think of all the extra money that will bring into the govt coffers for added DUI fines

They say you get what you pay for...
And you also get what you vote for.

Manitoba had the lowest Hydro charges in the country Conservatives are now making sure we catch up to Ontario rates.
