Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5
1 - Engine burn tests... RUN... PASS. Houston we are clear for takeoff!
2 - Put 2 cups water in my Instant Pot Duo Plus 8QT. Everyone online says 1 cup of water but the safety warning in the manual says to never use the 8Qt with less that 2 cups (500ml) liquid in it. Some rules I follow unconditionally without questioning or doubting the reason why. Put steamer rack in. put 12 extra large eggs. Close, Press Eggs button twice sets it to high. Watch water boil... :facepalm:That process takes as long as any normal way since it needs to boil and raise pressure before it seals and locks. Timer automatically starts once pressure lock pops up and runs 6 minutes and beeps to let you know it's done. The manual pressure release is a bit intimidating until you've used it at least once then you know how to use it and how it reacts. Transferred to smaller pot to cool faster under running cold water. Peeled all 12 perfectly. Absolutely perfect! Not even one tiny piece came off or any shells hard to peel. And with 2 people peeling the risk of one person being lucky and having a perfect batch is cut in half. Made egg salad sandwiches with 6 and put 6 for tomorrow in fridge. Took me longer to write all this then to actually do it (minus the first time jitters)
3 - A tad more complicated the first time getting to know the machine and passing the "is it working properly and safely" testing phase but I must admit when I boil a dozen eggs the traditional way I never get a perfect peeled batch. I just use the ones that didn't peel perfectly for egg salad sandwiches. So if it can make perfect hard boiled eggs this easily and cleanly I can't wait to try it for other things. I'll keep yogurt making trials for later down the road. I did make sure I didn't have any eggs that could crack while under pressure. Not sure I want to know what mess it might possibly make.
Verdict: Best $112.00 CDN (all included) I have spent in a long time. I now understand why those that love it rave about it so much, I am officially now one of them and those that know me also know that I'm extremely sceptical (and critical) and not your regular blind fanboy type. It's an awesome machine. The heating time is the longest part of the process. 5 Stars from me.
I wonder what Daniel thinks of his recent acquisition?
