Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

  1. Leaving my apartment mostly messy because it doesn't really matter all that much as long as it's not legitimately disgusting.
  2. I get to experience the challenge of incorporating night works trucks into a sleep meditation.
  3. Had a pretty good day at work with a few busy things going on. Much preferable to being on a single long task for the whole week where no one seems to care when it gets done.

Bonus: The two dogs we raised as puppies in Northern Arizona are doing great in the snow storm: going to the bathroom outside and having fun. (The two dogs from Florida are another story.)

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

1 - Day went a bit better after some "supportive therapy" you could almost call it group therapy. :)

2 - Miss Muffet came over and helped me by cleaning my dishes and counter this afternoon so I have room to start making my vaping juices then we went over to her place for ham and eggs for supper. Today was my laundry time so I did a load for her at the same time. Didn't fold it but took care of washing and drying part. Later I cleaned my amber glass bottles so I can transfer my DIY e-juice bulk bases from the plastic containers they come in since I can freeze those and they can keep for years rather than 6-18 months of potential max life in their containers. I could buy smaller sizes but 500ml costs $9.99 and 1000ml costs only 3$ more and some bottles I use for making my larger batches of favorite flavors and it's really time to start making some more e-juice. Same quantity discount deal I did with the nicotine base. I bought it in march 2016 and rebottled it at a lower concentration for ease of use and safety reasons and it's still as good as new and still have enough left for at least a year or two and I vape at a high nicotine percentage.

3 - watched the Canadiens beat the Flyers (NHL hockey) and got to see my favorite player Brendan Gallagher finally get his first NHL hat trick (3 goals in one game) on his 467th NHL game. sad note is that Montrealers are really cheap SOBs the guy is the heart and soul of the team and leading goal scorer for the last 2 seasons and barely any hats were thrown on the ice. Actually embarrassing to be honest. Some places they have to delay the game for minutes while the scrape the hats off the ice. But I won't let that kill my thrill and excitement as they fight day in and day out to earn a spot in the playoff, something no one thought this team had a chance at.

Bonus: My newest vaping tank and coils arrived today. (E-Juice supplies arrived Tuesday) There was a slight scare when I noticed they were shipped in a bubble pack envelope and two of the coil boxes were crushed a bit but the coils seem OK. Will let them know about that fact though. Can't blame Canada Post if you don't package properly. I figure I'm good with coils for anywhere from 6 -12 months with what I already had plus the new ones that I got at a great discount. Will need them anyway so best get them while at a lower price! Should be good for a year without needing anything unless I get another spare tank and battery unit. Mine is getting old. Waiting for a good deal to get a new one.

DISCLAIMER/WARNING: I can never state this enough: I do not encourage or recommend someone start vaping in any way or form. Vaping is not safe or cool and you should not try it or start it unless you have a serious cigarette smoking and nicotine addiction and have not been able to stop by any other means. I only do it because it's the only thing that has helped me almost completely eliminate smoking cigarettes after 3 heart attacks and a triple bypass I was still unable to quit smoking! My current goal for trying to give up the cancer stick for good is somewhere this year when I run out of the rolling tobacco I have left over. Sometimes I have a few but most days it's none to 1 or 2.

I didn't realize he'd never had a hat trick before, to be honest. That's surprising given how hard he works every game.

As for Montreal fans and the hats:

  1. hats aren't cheap these days and Montrealers are known to be frugal :D
  2. they might have better luck if they changed it to "chapeau trick"

First reaction I had when it went in was a loud "YES! Finally!" He's come close so many times but never hit the magic 3.

As for the hats, you have a point, after all that would mean what? Like the price of a hot dog and beer? 1 less hot dog and beer :panic:

frugal is not the word that comes to mind in this case. I'd understand if like some players he'd score them by the baker's dozen but one after almost 500 games where he's given his heart and soul to that team. Pathetic display of appreciation from people toted as being the best fans in the world. Oh and those in hat throwing distance seats are financially comfortable enough to throw a hat when you have almost all red seats sold out to season tickets holders

  1. I didn't accidentally drink a spider. (I made myself a smoothie, started drinking it from the blender as normal, then noticed a very tiny spider dangling just above the smoothie! :panic: By the time I got back to the kitchen to get a spoon, the spider had landed on the surface of the drink but at least I could quite easily scoop it out. I never imagined this being something that I'd be thankful for, but there we have it! I wonder how much web I accidentally drank, if any. Yes, I finished drinking the smoothie after that. No, I didn't name the spider ;))
  2. Got an extra hour's sleep this morning.
  3. Standby for number 3. I might be getting a keyboard today.

That spider already had a name. All spiders are named as they hatch by Big Momma Spider, aka Miss Muffet’s friend, starting with A and going through the alphabet.

Yours may already have had a nickname. Possibly Shortarse or Shrimpboat or Spidey McSpideyface.

  1. Eventually got out of bed this morning.
  2. Cyclone is staying off the coast so far.
  3. Fin. ;) Very glad that I had a 2nd person here to help with the digital piano cause otherwise I never would've even got it into the apartment. Now I just need a cover to keep the dust off.

  1. I'm over halfway through the work day (ugh, why can't I find a way to maintain interest in what I'm doing?! But never mind for now, halfway through).
  2. Slept through til 20mins before the alarm this morning.
  3. Going out for dinner tonight and maybe movie.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

If you hate technical mumbo jumbo, just ignore 1, 2, 3 and jump straight to the end of the post for a simplified translation of 1, 2 and 3. ;)

1 - Finished diagnosing, reconfiguring, tweaking, testing, and overclocking my server as far as it could go without catching on fire just for the fun of it :D Rinse and repeat (tweak, test, crash and reboot) over and over till done. Finally went to bed around 9:45 this morning after setting Prime95 to run a burn test (if your PC passes a 6-12 hour test from this program it's pretty stable and solid. It will find any flaw and crash systems that have been up and running seemingly stable but were never stress tested or under heavy operating load. Not really important for a home PC but it is for a server) went to sleep and woke up and it was still running after 5 hours. Good enough for me.

2 - Reinstalled the SATA 3 PCIE add-on card I thought had died into another slot far away from the video card and connected the 2 drives I had to disconnect because of it. Ran Seagate Seatools SMART, Short and then Long Generic Tests (about 7 hours on 2 x 3TB drives at the same time) PASS. Drives good, controller good. Saved myself almost 60$ since I had it in my amazon shopping cart ready to order another one. There's one time where having trouble deciding what to do actually paid off.

3 - Found the reason the card had crashed. My VPN provider updated the software and I always left the graphic interface open and visible on the server. Tonight I was trying to figure out what the heck was making my graphics card run hot when not doing anything. Son of a gun the little animated user interface is pushing my graphics card like really hard :eek:mg:. From lows above 20-30% to 40-50% and sometimes even more when visible :panic:which in turn makes it run WAY hotter and the system SSD boot drive was connected to the card that was right next to it and crashed not long after the new software upgrade. logical deduction that 1+1=2! In comparison, I tested watching some action scenes from Captain America in HD 1080p HEVC x265 encoding for about 15 minutes and it only puts an average load of 10% on the graphics card in full screen.

SIMPLIFIED TRANSLATION:
1 - Took me a long long time but I finally fixed my computer and made it run a lot faster too! rockstar
2 - My thing-a ma-jiggy I had added inside it to put like lost of drives is not dead. No need to pay 60$ to get another one. :woohoo1:
3 - Found out why it had crashed: Some programmers really suck at what they do and I have a program I need made by one of these morons. But I can make it not visible and like magic; No more problemos! :D

1. Pet dental clinics that offer lower-cost cleanings and spay/neuter.

2. Milk is still only $2 (USD) a gallon in Arizona. It has been that price for at least the last 4 years. Chickens like it too.

3. Did not lose power or water after getting a total of 14" inches of snow last week. It was well-predicted, so almost everyone stocked up on groceries.

BONUS: Glad I don't live in Flagstaff, AZ (even though their property values are much higher). They got a record 3 feet of snow on Thursday.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

Same price as the 2%: $2.

In Florida, the cost was almost $4 a gallon before I left.

Produce is cheaper here too, though not as cheap as Mexico.

I don't buy alternative milks usually since the real milk is cheaper.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

That’s great (for you)!

Wow considering a US gallon is less than 4 litres and the exchange rate that makes Florida milk more expensive than here! I have to dish out 4.99$ to 5.29$ for a 4L jug of 3.25%. I think 2% is 50 cents cheaper.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

And it is easier to freeze Canadian milk too. (Since it comes in bags that are easier to store in the freezer or back patio.)

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

Milk in bags seems to be an Eastern Canada thing. It's only available in cartons and plastic up to 2L and Plastic only for the 4L here in Manitoba. The adjustment to not having my milk in bags was not as hard as you may think :)

1. Got my husband to occasionally drink Canada Dry and 7-UP as a less unhealthy alternative to Coke since he has mild kidney disease. (Dark sodas usually have phosphoric acid. A&W root beer is one exception.)
2. My chihuahua is healing well after his neuter.
3. My calico cat was docile when she got her vaccines today. She was stressed on the drive there but much less so on the ride back.
