Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

1 - Weather was perfect for this time of year for drive to Winnipeg. With the snow scheduled to start early afternoon I managed to get my errands done and on the last 15kms of the ride home snow was starting to increase and blowing across the highway. Home safe before the snow and roads got really bad.

2 - Picked up some specials and great deal on Clover Leaf Chunk Like Tuna cans at 0.87$/ea at Walmart. Normally I'd get 24 and stock up since they rarely go on sale but since I was pretty sure Miss Muffet would want some too I just snagged 36. She took 10. Stocked up for a long time now. Stuff lasts forever so no issues having more than I eat regularly.

3 - Doc is going to scheduling an MRI for back since X-Ray report did not reveal anything abnormal except the (known fact) comment "Stents are noted in the common iliac arteries bilaterally" Good thing, otherwise I'd really be in trouble if 2 stents that big just up and moved away from there!

4 - Doc going to check around see if someone can offer some help or advice with another issue. (Needed a 4 to compensate for the following -1 although the -1 feels more like a -100 right now)

-1 - Really depressed tonight. Sick of feeling this way :(

With the snow scheduled to start early afternoon I managed to get my errands done and on the last 15kms of the ride home snow was starting to increase and blowing across the highway. Home safe before the snow and roads got really bad.

Did the same yesterday - blood tests, a haircut, and errands in anticipation of windchill warnings and up to 40 cm of snow beginning about midday today in Ottawa. These days, you really have to plan around the weather. Hoping it clears up enough for me to make my appointment with the cataract guy Friday morning. :crossed:

2 - Picked up some specials and great deal on Clover Leaf Chunk Like Tuna

"Like Tuna" sounds a lot like @Daniel's fake meat. Better double check the labels. :D

:D That would definitely NOT be good.

Which way specifically, @GaryQ? Are you talking about the physical stuff or the depression?

Hope it does. Getting an appointment with specialists takes forever.

Good "catch" :D Now I know why some people said we don't care about typos when I once said it took me forever to write a post. Something to catch and get a god laugh about. Although I know you know me enough to know I wouldn't buy make believe Tuna and if it exists is probably made with tofu or something like that and definitely would be more like $8.88 and not $0.88 a can

I think they are both related but the depression is high. Could be related to waiting for the renewals and closer we get to the deadlines the more anxious, worried and literally afraid I get. Losing my driver's license or disability could be something to push me over the edge and give up literally. I Actually have to call today to see what happening about my driver's license medical form status. Disability is a wait and see thing which I find stupid because they could do like everyone else and send a letter saying OK or NOT. and Not simply "if you don't hear from us your disability will continue without change"

In the U.S., Social Security usually sends a letter. But it is more a formality than anything. I have never heard of anyone's disability being stopped unless someone failed to reply to Social Security or is back working above a certain income level (even then there are trial work periods). Even with private diability insurance, they are looking for low hanging fruit (like a return to full-time work) and have the burden of proof (unlike an initial claim).

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

I hear you GaryQ so hard the waiting to know they must realize how frightening it gets to people and how indeed it can push someone over the edge. I am sorry you are so worried but no news is good news right i do hope you get a letter soon stating what is happening.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

Thanks @Daniel
I'm with a private group insurrance from when I was working and my doc keeps telling me there's no way i'll ever be able to hold a job and keeps reminding me "Haven't I always made sure that you didn't have any problems?"

The main issue is that my brain always takes the worst case scenario (like; did the mailman lose the large stack of papers from my doctor's office on the way to my insurer? Or are they sick of having to keep paying me when I should be dead by now and choose me as a "project" to start looking for any little excuse they could come up with to justify cutting me off after 8 years now) and pray for better than that. My insurer has never harassed me or bombarded me with all the try and trick you or trap you questions but I've always been open and honest with them and has always been great to me I still always worry. My first claims agent would check up on my status by phone regularly at first then less when I went on LTD. Since they transferred my claim from the London, Ontario office to Winnipeg office years ago no one has ever called me regarding my claim or harassed me in anyway with extra conditions or anything yet I'm always afraid and paranoid and can't help it. For years I'd worry that my next payment wouldn't come in as scheduled starting the day after I got the current monthly deposit. Now it's just a little anxiety when it's due, which is resolved when I see it deposited in my account.

On the bright side, I called the driver's licensing medical department to check on the status of that form and he said they had received my form but that it wasn't processed yet and when I mentioned the deadline of the 28th and my anxiety issues he reassured me that it doesn't affect me in any way as long as they have received it. I'm clear and does not affect my license until it's been processed even if it's after the deadline. He says since it's not classified as high priority like a suspension or something like that it goes in the slower queue and my driver's license renewal is not before January next year so I can rest assured and not worry. Logically and technically when my doctor says I'm clear and safe to drive on the form (which he did) acceptance and renewal shouldn't be an issue. At least I know they have it now.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

Bringing this thread back on subject...

1 - I'm sore all over from being on my feet a lot today. Exhausted but now in bed bit down still but happy at same time. I know that sounds contradictory but it's just how it is.

2 - Miss Muffet came over to help around 3:00. Waiting for her I had gotten most of my papers cleared (like all years worth on the table and in the living room) Sorted what needed to be shredded, recycled and the rest in a pile that was not perfectly sorted except the important unfinished stuff all together and just put them in my file box. Not filed but 90% the work done. Miss muffet attacked my kitchen so we could start on #3. Had to keep reminding her that I just needed the dished and counter cleaned for now or #3 would never get started. (She's OCD when it comes to a little spot or speck, even worse than I am. A trait I love but not the best time to start polishing everything today LOL)

3 - Even if I had a few restaurant and concessions I was rarely a cook in them but I am known to cook up a storm and when you see grown civilized adults wanting to lick the plate when done you know they loved it without having to even say a word. My spaghetti meat sauce is considered my specialty that anyone who has tasted it loves and always wants my recipe of which I explain that it depend on how I feel and is the same yet never the same like an artist with a select palette of colors I start with basic things and work at it as I go and the results are anywhere from good to great and occasionally out of this world awesome and once really bad (it's all or nothing with me) after stirring and discovering that the cheap pot I had had burned to the bottom and that bacth went to the toilet without passing by anyone's digestive tract. Lesson learned more never use a thin bottom pot more than never stir a sauce that burned to the bottom unknowingly. Good pot and a bit of attention prevents that. (and yes, REAL ground beef, about 4 lbs of it - ground from the stuff that eats the same stuff @Daniel eats ;)) I used to make a big batch every couple moths for years, pig out on it for a day or two with and without pasta and then freeze the rest. Proof of my pathetic state of mind and body the last long while; I hadn't made any in a very long time. I had bought 2 packs of extra lean ground beef and they were literally at the bottom of my chest freezer. after extraction I saw that the Eat before date was JULY 2017. Means I haven't made any in over a year and a half if not 2. And it's my favorite meal. I had the red bell peppers I bought last Monday under 70 cents a pound that needed to be cut up, cooked and frozen plus 400gr of ORGANIC sliced mushrooms I got for a buck this Monday on clearance at Giant Tiger. To be able to get to my meat though I had to literally empty my chest freezer but I needed my table cleared to have somewhere to put the stuff I had to pull out to get to the meat. So that's why Miss Muffet came to help by cleaning and then help prep the stuff for the sauce. We had a great time and supper together and I finally made a sauce which came out pretty good.

Bonus (for those who survived reading to here) She did all the dishes and cleaned everything up after supper and I helped a bit at first then helped her even more when I obeyed her command to get out of her way. :D

Double Bonus: I now know actually what I have in my chest freezer1 :)

1 - I have friends that I have never met that are constantly hanging on in spite of all the struggles they face.

2 - I find strength to keep hanging on through the courage they display.

3 - I am honored to call these people my friends.

"Courage is not being fearless when facing danger. It borders more on the edge of insanity by being scared sh*tless and still facing the danger that lies ahead." ~ Personal adaptation of a well know quote

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

I do hope you get a letter soon stating what is happening.

Thanks FMN but the last thing I want is a letter from my insurer because that would mean there's a hiccup somewhere. I just need to wait and hope nothing comes in except my deposits in my bank account. By April, no news and my regular monthly deposit should mean all is OK till next file review time. Last one was 2 years ago.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

  1. Got a new garbage bin yesterday. The council comes around and sometimes replaces old ones that are out for regular garbage collection. I almost didn't bother taking mine out so I would've missed out. I missed out last time because I was renting one of the other apartments and the people in my current unit didn't take out their (which is now my) bin at the time.
  2. We had about an hour where everyone was silently doing work. Weird.
  3. After yesterday re-deciding that I wouldn't have anything to talk to my old therapist about, I have re-undecided. Wish I could just stay on board but this will have to do in the mean time.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

1. Love the Fitbit (Fitbit Charge 3) I got for Christmas. Even gives the weather for the next few days and how much I slept the night before.

2. Though it was triggering being in therapy last year, it seems to have had only positive effects in the long-term.

3. Our mechanic neighbor (who has fixed our cars for years) fixed our front suspension for less than half the cost of the estimate we got in town.

The sleep tracker is pretty much the only reason I'm still using my Fitbit (Flex 2). Whoo 6hrs53min average this week, up 7mins from the last 3 weeks!

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

Theme: Forever :)

1 - Lost out on the 15% Valentine's Day discount for taking forever to get to then finally forgetting to order my DIY E-Juice vaping stuff yesterday :facepalm:Had found a place that ships free here in Canada for orders over 35$ contrary to other suppliers including my previous one where you have to buy 100$ - 125$ to get free shipping and having quite a few retail outlets in Ontario (+ 1 in BC and more importantly NONE in Manitoba = no 8% provincial sales tax only GST 5% ) and great prices seemed like a decent option for small orders. Took me forever to figure out that the site has a bug that calculates GST/HST at 13% if I enter different shipping and billing addresses and works OK if "same address for billing" check box is enabled so I just put my street address and PO BOX as the ship tp and checked the box same address for billing and everything finally worked out OK. They are fast! Ordered at 12:30 PM and my order was ready to ship and picked up by Canada Post before 3PM.

2 - I then proceeded to find and order some sealing rings for my Instant Pot from amazon.ca. The 3rd party ones I had previously mentioned were out of stock by the time I got and tested my pot and found some that mentioned other models of the 8QT but not the DUO PLUS but after seeing that the brand name sealing ring is the same part for all the 8QT models I put 2 and 2 together and ordered them. My LIFEPROOF iPhone case waiting to be put to rest I proceeded to add the case I had in my wish list and then took me forever to find something to add since I was about 4$ short of the 35$ free shipping amount. No kidding I think it took me over 2 hours and finally ordered some Dunlop nylon guitar picks.

1 - Took me forever to get started taking care of 2 and 3 and forever to type this post since I'm still trying to type on my keyboard while lying in bed with the curtains drawn and the light off because I'm too lazy to get up. :)

  1. Played pokemon go today and got one of the pokemon that I wanted.
  2. I have a task to occupy my morning at work tomorrow.
  3. Juuust managed to get a photo of Lucy, my aircon lizard, before she went back into her "home". I hadn't seen her for a while (since I caught her darting into the closet) and was wondering if she'd left.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

1 - Got the "Go Ahead Email" that Canada Revenue Agency's NetFile system was active as scheduled this morning and since my Taxes were already done and simply waiting for the go ahead I took care of that pronto. A couple clicks and off it went.

2 - Yesterday I was price hunting looking for a specific vaporizer kit with tank or even just the tank alone as it works with my current setup but with my sealed battery system being 3 years old I don't want it dying on me before I get a spare and be back to smoking full time till I get one. The price hunting was tough because it was to get a price match from the place I started getting my supplies from but it has to be same item, same color, in stock, the online store has to have retail outlets and not sell lower online than in store. (Yep, tough but worth it sometimes). Found a great price on the kit but no stock but the tank was $32.99 vs $39.99 (7$ doesn't seem like much but it's a 17.5% discount before tax) Put it on my list to get a price match for today. This morning I got an email from the place I bought my DIY e-Juice supplies Friday with a "today only" Family Day 15% off discount code (excludes things like Vaporizer Tanks and Machines) Great! Proceeded to add some coils to my cart for my current main tank and the new one I wanted at 15% off and then the fun; try and get the price match on the tank. Holiday in Ontario today...No answer on the number they say to call for price matching... offline on the popup "can I help you" chat box :facepalm:I could have just ordered the coils today to get the order in with the 1 day 15% off but then if I got the Tank another day I risked it not being in stock at other supplier and not getting the match and if I got the match I'd have to find something to makeup the 2$ short for free shipping. Finally a glimpse of hope for a few seconds, Chat box shows ONLINE send my HELP ME PLEASE! request and wait get a short response minutes later, the office is closed no one manning the phones so the online chat reps are are swamped but the guy was nice and helpful, sent him my link to the lower price. Then I get a response "I added it to your shopping cart at the price match" a few minutes later. COOL! Then, as usual, I try to squeeze every penny I can get out of something so I click to use my $1.06 rewards from my previous purchase and it won't work. Sent a quick message, then another saying "Don't worry about it I'll use it next time you guys are busy enough as it is. Finalize my order. Then get the emails processed, payment processed - preparing you order. Then he sends me a message saying he edited my order and added my rewards money to it. and then an email with and updated invoice.
Total savings: $21.82 ($71.93 instead of $93.75) Compared to a retail vape shop in Winnipeg probably more like 50$ saved. :)

Timeline:
12:04 PM Click - SUBMIT ORDER
12:05 PM Email - confirming Order
12:07 PM Email - rewards added invoice adjusted
12:17 PM Email - Order completed and ready to be picked up by Canada Post along with tracking number

THAT'S FAST!

3 - Delayed starting the gabapentin trial till yesterday. Day 2 and no nasty side effects to report so far
