Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

You would think if all those not even close to the real thing meals would be any good they wouldn’t need to steal the name of something really great to fool themselves it’s good.

Thats like broccoli if it was any good people would not need to camouflage it with cheese for it to taste good

1 - French fried potatoes = delicious all by themselves
2 - real curd cheese (the best kind goes quish quish when you chew it) = delicious all alone.
3 - Poutine gravy = delicious all by itself

BIG BONUS: Combined 1, 2, and 3 = delicious and we call it a poutine. Not to be confused with Putin!

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

The good, the bad and the ugly (no not Me, Daniel and David :D)

The good: Winter was not brutal. No extended -35 and lower extended periods.

The bad: More Queen wasps survived through winter hibernation.

The ugly: We don’t normally see then buzzing around intensively till mid July. There already big and busy collecting sap and I’m guessing bugs from The trees. No not getting close to see what they R up 2. :panic:

The really ugly: we get The occasional year where it’s an infestation. This is definitely one of them. This time of year they’re too busy to be aggressive it come next month and especially August it’s going to be scary going outside. :(

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

At least you are staying on topic with 3 positive things:

1 - French fried potatoes = delicious all by themselves
2 - real curd cheese (the best kind goes quish quish when you chew it) = delicious all alone.
3 - Poutine gravy = delicious all by itself

I will use cheese curds as a filler whenever I only have 2 positive things to post :D

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

What if you have about 1 and 3/4 of 3 good things? Curds and Whey?

1.) We finally got all our financial information organized with Michelle, our Financial advisor. We had to cut back $250 and it came out of restaurant/ordering in, groceries, clothing, entertainment.

I’m not sure how realistic that is, but those were all chosen rather quickly by my David. And $200 or more was always the amount we were in the red in the past... [emoji3525] At least it will be an eye opener for David... which brings me to;

2.) David is starting to accept that, even if he doesn’t want to go to a psychiatrist, if he is assessed as being clinically depressed (what I suspect) then he realizes he can bring in extra income through disability or social assistance. Half the reason I’m out of work myself is that he is “scared” of taking medications. I have reminded him that psychiatrists will take a person’s concerns and questions into consideration. They won’t make him continue to take meds that give him horrible side effects, and they may change meds, for example, to a different “family.” So even though he hasn’t started to take steps, at least he is starting to consider out loud the possibility. Who knows, wouldn’t it be something if all his many illnesses were caused by depression and anxiety? And if the meds helped him both physically (even to a small degree) AND mentally, he might be pleasantly surprised at what transpires with the choice/results of seeing a psychiatrist. And that will be a HUGE weight off my shoulders. I would be so ready to go back to work if that were to happen! That is my hope.

3.) I’m excited at the prospect and challenge of lowering our spending. I will have to see if switching to vegetarian meals a few times a week increases our savings. Vegetarian meals would be great to have while we’re waiting for sales on meat! lol Will try to keep more to cheap eggs & dairy. Not sure about chicken, it’s so expensive. Pork, maybe.

Anyway, if you want to keep track of where the sales are and which stores sell the least expensive, I use an app called “Flip.” If there are a group of stores close to each other where different products are available, you just have to do a bit of a circuit route...

I remember when I was a hermit, I saved so much money on groceries since I would rather eat oatmeal than go grocery shopping :)

In other words, what kills my food budget now is the desire for variety, especially since my husband doesn't like most of what I would buy for myself.

Glad to hear you guys now have an actual starting amount to cut. It might seem tough when you first look at it but when you start cutting 10$ here and 10$ there like a multivitamin "One a day" that's 300$ a month ;)

Looking forward to reading your progress reports :)

Only thing i'll bug you with is by sharing how much just a buck or 2 really adds up without really noticing it. For me it was one comment someone made to me about my Timmies habit years back... I responded like everyone else... What? Come on a Tiimies coffee (at the time was 2$ now called the large size) but I'd get 2 and head off to work and on weekends do the same thing. I deserved it. Well my morning ritual alone was costing me 120$ a month. That's half what you have to cut. Took a little while to adjust. Then I was fine. Now when I have the occasssional one it tastes soooooooo much better because it's a treat not a ritual. :coffee:

Being a hermit is extremely underated! Especially finacially! Not to mention having a whole lot less fools to deal with on a daily basis.

In other words, what kills my food budget now is the desire for variety, especially since my husband doesn't like most of what I would buy for myself
Well from the food suggestions you regularly post (like your really funny hippy poutine today) Just a wild guess, but I don't think anyone here would blame the poor guy. :D

My variety is simple: I saved 50% on this and 90% on that and then the inevitable things like milk at full price. Weird but seems the more I saved on something the better it tastes! Speaking of sales, I'm getting to my anxiety level on :coffee:.... only 4 1/2 tins left. Hope there's a great sale before I get under 2 :panic:

We’re way ahead of you! lol Neither of us buy a lot of any hot/cold beverage. You can go further and save even more by just having water with your meal at a restaurant. Or instead of alcohol, have something more inexpensive.

However, I used to drink a lot of pop and junk food at work. Solved that problem by buying in bulk at grocery stores instead. And now that I am off the Vyvanse, I’m not eating as much sugar. On Vyvanse I could eat all the sugar I wanted and I still kept off 10 lbs. Now I eat less sugar and I think I’ve gained 20 lbs....

Or go to Pizza Hut. Get a carryout deal, like a large cheese pizza. Put the slices in freezer bags. You now have 8 meals for one or 4 meals for two, especially if served with deviled eggs or egg salad :D
