  1. Consulted with colleagues to improve the aircon setting, so we didn't have aircon wars and now I don't need to put on a 2nd jumper. I had a mug of hot water warming my hands up and still might need another of those, but it's a definite improvement from 2 hours ago.
  2. No drama on my ride to work. It also didn't rain although the ground was still wet and muddy.
  3. Tomorrow might not be raining. It's hard getting home in time for my therapy appointment on a regular day (during their daylight savings) but will be worse if I have to have a shower to de-mud before I can sit at my desk. So I hope tomorrow actually is dry.

  1. First dry ride to work all week. Yesterday afternoon would have also been dry and pleasant had I not had to wear clothes and shoes which had been completely soaked in the morning.
  2. Something got in my mouth this morning during my ride, but it was probably plant-based rather than an insect, and I spat it out rather than accidentally swallowing it.
  3. I get to look at a work-related-vehicle today to inspect where we're going to put some new brackets and what's going to be in the way etc. to help us design things.

BONUS: Went to a Mexican restaurant to order takeout and server invited me to wait at the empty bar. Then at the bar, I asked for a mojito in order to support a local business :D (Usually, I am too cheap to order alcohol.)

1. The instructor for yoga and tai chi continues to be very nice and inspiring. (She is 20+ years older than me but is as flexible as a straw.)

2. At first, lower-cost animal hospital didn't have any openings until June to neuter the kitten. But kitten gets neutered on Thursday since I had a dog dental cleaning originally scheduled for that day.

3 . Our 24-year-old Ford Ranger pickup truck is still our most reliable/economical form of transportation. (The 16-year-old sedan gets its A/C compressor replaced once the parts come in. The 12-year-old minivan gets its transmission diagnosed next week.)

I find it fascinating that Ford seems unable to make a reliable car if its life depends upon it — this is not a new thing: it's been true for as long as I can remember and my suspicion is that they spend all their money on style and the latest gimmicks or features than on quality control.

On the other hand, as with your experience, Ford pickup trucks seem to be the most reliable in North America, if not the world.

Somebody should send a team from the truck division over to the car division to see what they're doing wrong.

  1. Made an enquiry about getting my bike serviced.
  2. Had a homemade sub sandwich for dinner.
  3. Have stayed dry all weekend despite the rain. I'm very conflicted about tomorrow though, because it's been raining so heavily today that even if it stopped tomorrow I'd get muddy if I rode my bike but there's no signs of it stopping yet... But if I get the bus, firstly it's annoying for multiple reasons and secondly there's a risk that it only goes part of the way then stops due to perceived or real temporary flooding. Last time that happened I had to have someone come and give me a ride the rest of the way to work. So in that event it would be better to be on the bike.

Did s/he have a number of good reviews? I haven't tried Uber yet, but one time someone thought I was her Uber driver :D Here, the cost of an Uber is almost as much as a taxi, at least since it's a rural area.

I remember once getting my shoes soaked riding my bike to middle school. Never went in the rain again. I literally had dreams/nightmares of it happening again :)

Here in Canada, Uber has significantly upped their quality control and their security (for both passengers and drivers) in the past couple of years. They've also made improvements to their smartphone app.

I use Uber exclusively over taxis now and the last time I had a poor experience with a driver was probably 3 years ago.

It was a few years ago so I don't remember how many stars they had, but it wasn't anything that looked immediately concerning. Since my workplace is in a weird sort of industrial area they might have got confused or thought the GPS bugged and just couldn't be bothered. They also cost about the same as a taxi here too.

1. Thankfully had no issues with the bus today. It was nice getting home dry and not covered in wet gritty dirt, which is somehow distinct from mud.
2. Booked my bike in for a service on the first day of my time off work.
3. Submitted the thing I needed to submit.

Excellent (y)

But when you do get "covered in wet gritty dirt," you can reframe it as a free grounding experience :coffee:

Thanks. Capitalizing on your experience, I got the template from the same place you did (Pixel Exit). I went with their newest template (Bolt). And then I did a RSS import from my old blog for most of the articles.

I am loving the XenForo software. It is a much more pleasant experience for organizing things, posting, etc. than using WordPress -- partly since I am more used to forum software compared to blog software.

BONUS: Squeaky wheel got the grease. Husband mentioned to Internet company that his favorite streaming channel was buffering, and they upgraded our Internet to their new system -- which is twice as fast for the same price -- sooner than expected.

  1. I got the bus today as well. Yesterday I was briefly confused because the bus route had added a small extra portion, but I looked it up and found out what was going on. It was fortunate that I spent the time investigating because the driver today asked me about it and whether it was worth doing or is going to be too wet. So I knew what he was talking about and could tell him that there were big puddles on the road yesterday.
  2. Found a document that's going to be very helpful for my work task.
  3. Getting my bite splint mold taken today. Will be the 2nd of 3 trips to the dentist about this topic, which is annoying but at least it'll be 2/3rds done and the 3rd trip will just be receiving the splint and instructions for use and paying the 2nd half of the bill.
