Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

  1. Saw two annoying emails last night so I won't be as annoyed by them as I start my day today.
  2. It's not raining at the moment.
  3. I don't have to eat any blue cheese.

That sucks. Hope you've got good windscreen wipers, a strong umbrella, and can take your time driving safely. Maybe you could try to time it to avoid the storms, park somewhere safe in the city and go to a library or see a movie or something depending on how long the worst part of the storm goes and the time of your appointment... But that's a few moving targets to hit. Maybe just a good book and plans for a nearby undercover car park instead.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

Yeah. Tapatalk is annoying, isn’t it?

Sometimes! Especially when I’ve seen something and knew I saw it it but can’t find it for, like, 20 minutes because my working memory sucks.

Anybody know when working memory becomes long term memory?

One reason I want to know:

I’ve been calling my neighbours by the wrong names... Or I start to call them the wrong name... The name I almost say is stuck in my brain but I know it’s wrong.

They also have ADHD, but they’re medicated. Now they’ve made it into a whole thing. I was getting called Nancy, and I kept calling Tayneal the name Tahni and Rob the name Bradley. For some reason my David was changed to Davy Gravy...

Then they decided to call me Cathy, because they like that name better. For a while I kept saying, “The name’s NANCY.” But then I gave in.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to keep calling them the same wrong name though... Even in jest. I’m starting to develop a stutter!!!

Thanks, I’ll just play it by ear. Leave earlier if need be. If it gets too bad pull over and let the worst pass. I just want to get there give him an ear full pick up milk and mail then crawl back in bed self medicating.

One of the the main reasons I stepped down as moderator as I don’t set a good example and just want to disconnect from life. Problem is I want to keep track of how everyone I care about here is doing so not keeping an eye on the forum without being banned (which would sting) is impossible. Only place in life where I seem to fit in. Highly intelligent messed up people that are able to acknowledge their weaknesses. It felt like home since day 1.

My dad often goes through a whole list of relative's names before he gets to the right one like "Mar... uh, Je... uh, Loh... uh, gooblax" where the only things that are correct are the gender of each person and the approximate relative level of relationship (like all his siblings, wife, children, close in-laws or nieces).
Is it like that, or are the other names completely random?

Could you try making a flip card game for yourself with a photo and practice saying their name as soon as you flip the card to see their face? Might be awkward if you have to take a photo of them though

My mom always did that, but in her defense there were 12 children... she would just start at the top of the list by birth order and keep going until she got to the one she wanted. :D

And for a while, we had a St. Bernard with the same name as one of my sisters (Bonnie) so I guess she never really knew who she would get when she called...

In addition to the kids names, my family was nuts about pets so when I was a teenager we had 6 dogs and then the cocker spaniel had 6 puppies. There were also various birds, fish, rodents, and for a while a really nasty monkey that hated males.

It was... interesting... :panic:

1. Sold my car.

2. Insurance premium is affordable again.

3. This forum has successfully increased blue cheese awareness.

It has also increased vegemite awareness...

... but not necessarily those who approve of blue cheese or vegemite. :D

And it seems none of us would eat a Vegemite blue cheese sandwich :)

Well, the wrong names are consistent. Rob reminds me of a nice/friendly guy at work named Brad: facial similarities, humour, somewhat tone of voice.

Tayneal is a quiet, friendly woman, blond hair, kind of willowy. She has ADHD and other mental health issues. Has a mom like mine (not a good thing). She reminds me of Tahni who is a Facebook friend (who also had/has a mom & dysfunctional family like me).

That might work! I’d get over feeling like an idiot a bit more quickly than in the past. lol I could just snag a photo from their respective Facebook profiles.

Maybe my David could quiz me on their names... lol I could also “do lines.” Where I write 100 times:

“My neighbours are Rob & Tayneal.”
“My neighbours are Rob & Tayneal.”
“My neighbours are Rob & Tayneal.”
(etc)

Thanks, these are probably things I need to do before these things sink into my brain more deeply and get attached to wherever synapses are long-term memory! lol

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

1 - I love it when the weather man sucks and can't predict for beans. No Rain or thunderstorms to Winnipeg and back

2 - Was kind with my doc but shared how I'm at the end of a dark hole. Told him about my fears regarding the psychiatrist internal specialist wants me to see. He told me I could cancel if it created too much anxiety. Said I'd go and see first before judging.

3 - tried to et him to gove me summer off but all I was able to negotiate was to see him same say as I see the internal specialist. he doesn't normally see patients and only does physicals on Thursdays but told me to tell the receptionist to book me that afternoon.

BONUS: Got blood work done immediately after getting out of his office. Had taken a number and didn't even have a chance to get my next appointment card filled when the lab tech called me in. Then went to get X-Ray done only 5 minutes from his clinic. About 5 minute wait and 5 minutes in the room.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

  1. Wasn't actually crying when someone came to ask me something at work. Just had a bit of a wet eye that hopefully wasn't noticeable.
  2. Saved money by not going out with the team to lunch this week.
  3. I know that my therapist didn't say what he said with any intent that I'd take it into a neat little packet of evidence for me to hurt myself with. That's 100% on me.

I wouldn’t worry much about the “edge of tear thing” most people are so self absorbed they don’t really pay attention to others and if ever it happens and someone asks just blame it on your hormonal cycle ;)

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

I noticed a guy crying at work and -- for the first time -- I thought maybe he wasn't a jerk after all :)

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

Pretty sure I'll blame it on having a cold or eating chili tuna long before that.
It's possible they could have seen me as a jerk anyway :)
