That’s because your a kind compassionate sensitive person. Seems to be a slowly dying breed sadly

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

I wouldn’t worry much about the “edge of tear thing” most people are so self absorbed they don’t really pay attention to others and if ever it happens and someone asks just blame it on your hormonal cycle ;)

lol I would cry at work, but when my anxiety was really high, I’d try to hide in a bathroom stall.

One time I couldn’t stop crying and messaged a co-worker to contact a
Manager because I couldn’t stop bawling (quietly)... The manager was really trying to be helpful and patient with me and to help me calm down. He just couldn’t find any private place to talk. So we went outside and he had intended to go sort of off to one side of the building but there was construction. So I awkwardly sat kind of behind the door and he stood in front of me, and I was sort of half hidden. lol However a couple of concerned co-workers (I couldn’t see them because water kept coming out of my eyeballs) stopped to ask if I was okay, and said yes, this manager is trying to help me. Embarrassing but gratifying to know that some people saw me crying with a manager and wanted to know if I was OK!

Other times like you, gooblax, I just had a bit of water, and hoped it wouldn’t be noticeable. And apparently it wasn’t.

I prefer to blame my watery eyes on my perpetual allergies! I’m one of the few people who always brings their own Kleenex to work! lol

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

Pretty sure I'll blame it on having a cold or eating chili tuna long before that.
It's possible they could have seen me as a jerk anyway :)

If you’re a jerk, prove it. I have not witnessed this jerkiness you speak of. Perhaps you merely perceive you are a jerk. But I know jerks and, unless I’m given a framed 18X24 of you actually doing something like a jerk, I can’t prosecute...

BONUS: Soft dog cones (for keeping a dog from biting sutures, etc). So much better than the hard plastic kind, which was less comfortable for the dog and harder to put on.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

  1. Talked to my boss about some stuff I needed to ask for a thing at work.
  2. When I was talking to my mum last night, a topic came up that was close enough to a thing my therapist (ex therapist? nah who am I kidding, I'll end up going back once my thoughts untwist themselves and I've given myself a sufficient time-out punishment) suggested I ask my parents about. So I got and took the chance to ask something close enough without having to come up with a cover story about why I was asking.
  3. Plenty of leftovers for dinner.

1. Last weekend of the first summer semester.

2. So glad summer isn't like last year.

3. Checking on my neighbor's pets helps a lot with exercise since they live up a hill.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

  1. Emailed a "dumb question" and was only slightly worried about what I'd get back after stressing about it for awhile.
  2. Got a reasonable answer which sort of helped confirm something, and am one step closer to understanding the very mysterious world of supply in the company.
  3. Finished work for the day so can try and find a way to burn off the leftover nervous energy.

Bonus: remembered to bring home the second batch of leftover pancake mix from the work waffles that by now looks disgusting, 1wk 4days post mix.

1. Anything with ice, especially iced tea.

2. Homemade cheese enchiladas from my sister-in-law. Even the sauce was from scratch.

3. Husband is making egg rolls tonight.

BONUS: Picky senior cat likes his new food (since it has liver in it).

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

Today was challenging but here it goes...

1.) My David’s doing well, all things considered. Stupid ladder snapped on the bottom support rung today while he was near the top of the ladder. He hung from one arm for a sec from the eavestrough before falling. He sort of twisted his arm, which at least caused him to fall toward the garage, where he landed mostly in soft, deep, gardening soil instead of the hard ground. Of course he landed on his back on the hard piece of wood. Thankfully we had some frozen beans and we used that to apply to his neck (his head hit the ground after his back). And he took turns applying the cold pack (of beans) from his neck to his lower back to his rib cage to his forearm. He’s a little sore and gets jolts if pain now and again, but he can walk. Poor dude! Of course I went in to the house so I didn’t hear him calling me when it happened. My poor Sweet Baboo!!! He’s been resting a lot today, and I’ve made sure he took a slow-release Tylenol (650 mg), a 1/2 a Tylenol/Muscle Relaxant combo (250 mg of the Tylenol), plus some CBD oil, and Voltaren Emulgel. Things could have been SO much worse, so I’m glad they’re not.

2.) Did some shopping and bought some proper cold packs that are made for refreezing or heating. One came with a super-soft fluffy cover that will prevent him from direct contact, the other one is smaller and it’s in the coldest part of the fridge, in the bottom meat drawer. Glad to have some new ones because we had really old ones from the last time David was in the hospital. Bought the slow-release Tylenol (AKA Tylenol Arthritis), and a new tube of extra strength Voltaren. We have regular Tylenol and some Voltaren already, but I don’t want to have to go get more if he runs out. So we are full prepared for pain management in this house!!! lol

3.) Found a really decent patio umbrella at Superstore. Actually several choices. We already have a good base, but I was a little surprised that the umbrellas didn’t include one! How lame! But the prices were excellent: we’ve seen them going for $200 to as low as $150 at stores, and maybe a little bit less expensive on Varage (like Let It Go). But these are all between $35 and $75! I didn’t get one today, as it was too hard to drag along with the other groceries: will be picking it up tomorrow.

Does he have shoulder pain? Doesn't take much to cause injuries like rotator cuff injury after a certain age.

In any case, he should probably get checked out by a doctor (if he would go).

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

1 - Finished first half of the year under budget in spite of the non planned expenses like TV, Instant Pot, All the extra new vaping gear (went a bit OCD on coils but they're like toilet paper it's not if, but when you'll need em) and the Dentist bills.

2 - Lowered budget for 2nd half of year by a significant amount. Still a reasonable and obtainable goal unless an unexpected bump in the road happens but that's what saving for the expected is for.

3 - Continuing in isolation and mostly silent mode. On the forum and even more in the real world. Phone has been in total do not disturb mode for a while now. Miss Muffet called twice last 2 days and haven't returned her call and I missed the Tele-Care diabetes nurse's call yesterday. Oh well she said she'll call me next week.

BONUS: Optimistic Goal: Aiming for me and my 2000 ford focus to survive at least till my retirement age in 8 years 2 months and change. At the current annual KM my car should only have maybe 40-50K km more by then so about 170,000 to 180,000km. Maybe even less if I don't have to go to a million medical appointments and tests. Will be interesting to see which one of us outlives the other :D

2000 ford focus

Maybe the robots who made it were having an especially good day :) Our 97 Ford Ranger with almost 300,000 miles (480k km) is still doing good. Easy to maintain compared to some other vehicles.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

Yes surprising considering it was built in the US of A  Assembled Nov 20, 1999 to be precise :D

Was bought in Nov 2003 from an auction In BC from my friend's nephew for her since he's a high end car dealer out there and found something decent for her budget at the time. Most likely a leased vehicle as the Odometer was at 79K km so just under 50,000 Miles.

I bought it in Aug 2015 from her estate with 116,281 km so in 12 years she only put a tad over 37K (23.3K miles)

So in a month and a half I'll have had it 4 years. I'm at about 128,500km (80,300 miles)
She (and then me) drove it so little that the brake rotors and drums were maybe 5 years old and full thickness but I had to do a full brake job (myslef saved a lot there) in 2017 because they were pitted from rusting not being used enough.

My total cost of ownership to date, purchase price with all repairs including new rocker panels when I bought to get it to pass safety and repairs since is currently at $2,650. I did do a lot of the work myself though in 2017. Costs me more to plate it and insure it than run it with our, no one way, only Full coverage allowed, Manitoba Public Insurance. Insurance and registration for this year is $820 Driver's license is cheap only $35 a year now.

There's a personal emotional attachment to that car that keeps her present in my heart. There's still some little things of hers in the car I can't seem to get rid of. Her son was a friend of mine at the time. She took me in and rented me a room after i left my second wife for good in Aug 2012. She was a sweet lady like a mom and a big sister and a dear freind. Be 4 years on the 27th that I woke up to find her lying on the floor in her bedroom lifeless. She had most likely just stopped breathing. Called 911 did chest comressions till the paramedics came and pushed me aside and took over and they worked on her for a long time and finally got a pulse back on the way to the hospital. She had a DNR request and she passed away heading for a CT scan the family did not want an autopsy performed. The hospital was pretty sure it was an aneurysm but we'll never know. I never got to say goodbye. What was really weird was that the family wanted me with them at the service and my song "SomeDays" was playing as we walked in. I met them in 2010 when I was performing the solo acoustic version of that song at their church after releasing the fundraiser CD I recorded for a homless shelter in Winnipeg.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

Does he have shoulder pain?

No, his shoulder seems fine. He has a condition wherein his forearms jut outwards from the elbow called “cubitus valgus.” The “carrying angle” is outward instead of straight. This issue already puts a lot of extra stress on his muscles in his forearm. When he plays guitar, or does some other activity for too long, his elbow, forearm and sometimes his wrist hurt.

His forearm at the elbow is where his arm hurts. He probably over-extended it but at least he’s using the cold packs I bought yesterday.

In any case, he should probably get checked out by a doctor (if he would go).

Hahahahahahahahahahahaaa!!!

I offered to take him to a mediclinic or to the ER yesterday, but he preferred to “wait things out.”

*sigh* Fortunately he seems decent. He’s a bit sore but surprisingly not more than one would normally feel after falling from a ladder... [emoji2955] I mean, considering he’s got a new herniation starting in his lower back, and that’s apparently what took the brunt of the landing (on a railroad tie separating the garden from the lawn).

I think when he grabbed the eavestrough/gutter it broke/slowed his fall and instead of falling 8 feet it was probably more like 5-6 feet...

I just shake my head.
