Haha. Acoustic. I'm on the fence about getting an acoustic-electric (not sure if I'm just deluding myself that some day I'll play with other people and need to plug in).
But my acoustic that I have now was purchased from Aldi and although it does the job (had to replace the tuning pegs because the cheap gear teeth broke, and my cheap replacement doesn't look like it'll have much longevity either) it'd be nice to get something better.
It's not just about playing with other people. It's also about the different sound(s) with an electric and with solid bodies the strings are closer to the fretboard so there is less effort in playing.
Either way, if you don't want to or can't spend a lot of money, try Yamaha. They are generally cheaper that the big brand names like Gibson and Martin but they don't sacrifice quality. I had a Yamaha acoustic that I bought in the 70s and a few years ago I passed it on to one of my sons. It aged beautifully over the years and the tone now is magnificent.
I also own a Yamaha electric which I love, though I don't play much anymore... Sounds great through a Marshall amp.
What I meant was acoustic vs. acoustic with built-in pickup. I definitely don't want a solid body electric.
Playing on my own I doubt I'd ever plug it into an amp, so that's where my consideration comes in.
I don't like using a pick so only ever do boring strumming or fingerpicking.
I was thinking Cort MR710F. But every time I've selected one, gone to the store, they don't have that one to try and I come home with nothing (this will be my 3rd attempt - 1st was 2015, 2nd was towards the start of this year). So I need to have a very open mind about it when I go in.
That's a decent looking and decent sounding guitar. The F is the acoustic-electric version I take it so if you ever want to add sound pedals and such you could buy a small "home" amp rather than a large heavy Marshall - there are quite a few of those on the market now.
I guess if it were me I would want to look at the price difference between the acoustic-electric and the acoustic only since it seems the only difference is the built in electronics.
Once you get there and start holding the guitars you'll probably feel much better. Something about having a guitar in your hands is both soothing and exciting.
"I've been in the instrument retail business for 25-plus years and I've never seen anything like it," Brendan Murphy, a senior salesman at Sweetwater, an online retailer of guitars and other instruments, wrote in an email in July. "It feels like every day is black Friday."
1. Walmart did an amazing job restoring the headlights on the minivan. They look brand new, and it cost only $25.
2. Annual tradition: Yard is looking a lot better because of 20 bags of new mulch (that was on sale at Lowes for Labor Day).
3. No more back pain in the morning after getting a new, cheap Amazon-brand mattress. (Mattress was made nearby in Phoenix by a third-party mattress company.)
BONUS: Friend came over to help us finish a home improvement project, and he liked the Impossible Burgers we had for lunch.
1. Day off today. But my plans haven't worked out because I'm nervous about leaving my apartment while the painters are out the front.
2. They LITERALLY won't care that I'm at home and leaving my apartment. Just go, dude. The only problem is if their boom is blocking the front door but surely they wouldn't block it completely... right?
3. My social anxiety has been quite a bit better lately. Bit of motivation that (a) it won't be so bad, and (b) if I don't go then I'll be justified in jumping in the pool of negative self-evaluations.
Outside, all the balcony rails. They were doing the floor below mine out the front (had already done my front rails on a previous day) and need to do my back ones (not sure if other back ones have their final coat but mine was the only back one with no new coats).
I made it out. Going to try to get a banh mi (Vietnamese pork sandwich) and bubble tea, and sit in the park.
