Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

1 - My face is finally thawed

2 - My tummy filled with ketchup and 6 eggs. Best scrambled eggs I had in a looong time.

3 - Just read the little warning labels on the amoxicillin bottle:

May cause Diarrhea during treatment...

YES! PLEASE DO! Would be a temporary pleasant change from all the ones I take that cause constipation

He didn’t mention how long before I can eat or drink anyone have a molar extraction lately remember? Should have stuffed my face earlier I’m starved. Of course no appetite for the last month get a tooth yanked and now I’m starved

Don't brush your teeth for 24 hours.

Just swill gently with salt water tomorrow.

Don't do anything to create suction - that might break the scab.

No straws. Very soft foods or liquid foods only. Body temperature - nothing hot or cold.

Basically you're protecting the forming scab for 24-48 hours.

Thanks @David

Instructions I found on the envelope though say:

#8 DIET: Cold liquids can be taken for first 4-6 hours following return home. After this any cold soft food is permissible the first day

Although I did water down my orange juice with warm water and my eggs with ketchup for the obvious opposite reaction.

P.S. Hope you're not upset at Daniel's suggestion and my ensuing action :)

I think the "cold" part in those instructions means no hot foods or liquids. My dentist said lukewarm or body temperature but just from my own sensory experiences I would avoid very cold liquids, even ice water. Cold might not harm the scab but in my experience it can still hurt like the devil.

Everything is already cold in Manitoba half the year anyway

No not upset at all. :)

However, I did change the title back for SEO reasons. When you change the thread title, you also change the URL structure. Better not to, especially with older threads, unless there's an really good reason.

(Anything in the private Members Only forums can be retitled because those ones aren't indexed by search engines anyway since the search spiders can't crawl them.)

To summarize: Mix warm chicken pot pie with refrigerated apple pie. Blend until smooth, creamy, and lukewarm

Oh gosh, yes. [emoji33][emoji50][emoji2960]

GaryQ, when I posted earlier about drinking coffee with a straw, I should have specifically said to do that BEFORE you go to the dentist. Definitely not after!!! I wasn’t clear, and I am so glad you caught that Dr. Dave!!! [emoji15][emoji51][emoji850]

 Yes I knew that. But can you imagine if I didn't? :panic:
My biggest fear probably more than bleeding to death is the dreaded fear of popping the clot out and getting a dry socket. i know what exposed dental nerve pain feels like so I really have no desire to ever experience that. Those first 3-4 days especially the first 48 hours are high anxiety times. Don't think I'll have to worry about low blood pressure for a bit, Of course to make the anxiety worse I was sneezing a bit the 2 days before the procedure and nose still a little "seasonally affected"

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

Gently touching my cheek I can feel it's quite swollen inside. Took just 1 T3 at 6am with my antibiotic

1 - Slept well and No apparent bleeding overnight

2 - Clot still in place protecting the nerve from air and me from crying

3 - Coffee just finished brewing. Think I'll add a bit of cold water before the milk. But I'm not cutting off the sugar. Might even give myself a little extra as a consolation prize for getting it extracted and having to drink it without sugar for almost 2 days :)

Bonus: slowly creeping up to the "past dry socket risk period" So far so good. Not out of the woods yet but I sees a little clearing in the bush a couple miles beyond all them trees

:coffee: time :dance2:

Sweet and just warm enough but not too much!. Don't like piping hot coffee anyway so not a problem at all

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

1 - The swelling is slowly decreasing from the dental surgery. Bit more sore tha yesterday but was told that was a normal part of the healing process.

2 - Survived an emotionally difficult and rough night. thankfully Dr. B. cared enough to help me through it as best he could. He cared even if I didn't. That says a lot about the man's character.

3 - I'm still alive in spite of myself.

Thanks Dr. Baxter!!! We like GaryQ. I’d totally miss his health play-by-plays and his healthy cynicism!!!

*please read with genuine tone/concern: do not look for sarcasm where there is none*

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 5

1.) Dr. Baxter is awesome and helped GaryQ, who is also awesome despite his protests, through his Dark Night of the Soul. I am absolutely gangbusters Grateful with a capital G.

2.) My garden is starting to bloom!! It helps me feel a bit more Up. I’ve been feeling a lot more Down.

3.) My husband doesn’t want me to do dishes. [emoji33] Or much of anything around the house. [emoji2955] Which is weird to me, makes me wonder what he’s hoping the payoff will be. lol To get me back to work? He says he’s training himself so that when I am back to work I won’t have to do dishes, or cook, or clean much at all...

(yes: relative speechlessness - you may want to mark it down on your calendars so you can mark the day)

...
I’ve told him not to worry about me. I want him to worry about taking care of himself. I have trust issues about that. But I’m taking it as a good sign of “reform.”
