In the mountains here, I haven't seen any, ever. Even in the chicken coops, where there is standing/drinking water. But with global warming, I'm sure it's just a matter of time for them to be more visible. Like this summer was the first summer my dogs had ticks.

In the summer, I am sure there are certainly mosquitos in Phoenix and in the Arizona-lake areas, for the people who actually go outside during the day :D

Here in the mountains, the veterinarians are concerned about mosquitos/heartworm mostly for people who travel with their dogs. But one veterinarian swears she saw "a mosquito" in January. I am used to these big things in Florida that come in waves :D

Great, that's all we need - mosquitos wet and dry.

1. Identified some books I can give away.
2. My mum may have accepted that I'm unlikely to have children, and same for my brother (at least based on her comment about us not needing to keep the children's books).
3. I didn't snap at my dad when he said things that really annoyed me.

Edit: bonus: the tiny spider reappeared above the bed tonight. I've named him Nathan.

Is hitting a mosquito considered a hate crime in Canada? :coffee:

The bug I hated the most in North Florida were flying roaches. They were relatively small, but they would fly into your house, even with a buglight on your porch. They were attracted to any kind of light:

Blattella asahinai - Wikipedia

It was believed that the Asian cockroach came to Florida through the import of goods from Japan. On March 3, 1986, Dr Louis M. Roth received cockroaches of Lakeland, Florida from Dr Philip G. Koehler of Florida Extension Services of the University of Florida for inspection.

Go Gators! :D

1. Last night after driving past a curve, my husband yelled "Deer!" before I saw two adult deer in the other lane. Deer stayed still, making it easier to get out of their way (since I did not have time for a complete stop).

2. Snowed big flakes this morning.

3. Got another cat tube toy (with feathers) for 50 percent off (at the grocery store, of all places).

  1. Watched a movie on a free trial of Disney+ with my parents for NYE. We normally go to a cinema so it had the same sort of vibe but without the emotional hangover I get after going to the cinema.
  2. I almost started making the pecan pie I'd been planning to make. But it needs to be gluten free for my brother to consider having any and we don't have any gluten free plain flour, so that's back off the agenda.
  3. Trying not to pay attention to negative thoughts.

BONUS (literally): Received my second stimulus payment from the government, which I simply consider a bribe for not moving to another country :D

BONUS #2: Sister-in-law's team of hospital doctors just agreed to soon proceed with surgery on her kidney to help her live longer, with more quality of life (less trips to the hospital for AFib, pneumonia, etc). (She is 72 and had a lung transplant two years ago).

  1. Left the living room at 9:15pm although mum wanted me to stay to keep watching a movie that had only just started. I'm not asleep yet but it's a start.
  2. There was a spider in the tomatoes that my dad had cooked, and I was the lucky person to serve it to myself from the saucepan. It's a positive that I'm not hugely afraid of spiders as long as everyone keeps their distance (or is quite obviously dead from being boiled in tomato, I guess!), and a positive that I saw it and didn't eat it. Maaaybe not so positive that there's no way of knowing how many spiders were not seen before being consumed, but "extra protein" as they say.
  3. I went to a shoe shop with my dad, my mask stayed on better today and I didn't have to constantly adjust it to stop it slipping any time I moved my jaw, and I bought a pair of shoes even though at the start I was having a lot of trouble properly looking at things due to my usual looking-at-things-in-a-store anxiety.

1. Therapist had a new telehealth opening for this week.

2. New dog got groomed at the vet today and smells much better :) (The grooming is part of his wellness plan .)

3. The restaurants that combine KFC with Taco Bell -- so you can order coleslaw as a side dish to the bean burritos :)

Part of the reason I like it so much is the black beans. Because there is a Mexican takeout place on every other block almost in Arizona :D, but most will do refried beans only (and usually with a little lard, which I try to forget about :)).

We used to have Taco Bell here but they weren't in very convenient locations and they basically all died out.

Actually, I just double checked on Google: In fact, there are actually three Taco Bell restaurants in Ottawa currently, but all are in inconvenient locations at least for me, two in the the most eastern and one in the most western parts of Ottawa but nothing in central Ottawa.

What you do, you drive to the nearest one, order a few party packs of 10 soft tacos each, and freeze them. Then each time you get one from the freezer, you note it in 3 Positive Things and try a different sauce combination each time :D
