1. During the wellness exam yesterday evening, the veterinarian said our recently-adopted dog (Black Mouth Cur) was the most muscular dog she had seen all day. (He often walks me rather than the other way around.) And the vet tech also said we got a great dog since he was very easy going during the exam and vaccines.

2. Wellness plan already reimbursed my bank account this morning for the $70 I spent on the dog's grooming on Sunday.

3. My ankle got free acupuncture from the kitten during another ninja-style, hit-and-run attack :D

1. Trying to do shadow puppets when I turn on the phone-torch while hunting an evasive mosquito.
2. I think I did a good job moving the laundry in/out of the sun/rain throughout the day and it wasn't too damp this evening.
3. One more day until I get to make burgers.

Are there restrictions on making burgers in Australia?

I have a niece who was raised in Australia as a child (after a few years each in England and then South Africa) and she later lived with us for a year or two, so in my head I read "burgers" with an Aussie accent, which is something more like "bearguhs".

Are you sure she wasn't just messing with you about the accent? :p

The two restrictions are that there's hardly any fridge/freezer space in this house, and that my parents have been deciding all the dinner meals which has made it difficult for me to interject with something I want to make (I can't do it spontaneously, because there won't be ingredients for it, because there's nowhere to keep those ingredients).
Honestly once something goes in the fridge here it's basically lost to me because I can't see anything for the clutter.

No she actually talked that way, although it may have been a mixture of Australian and South African since she spent her childhood in both places (plus in England for the first few years).

When my sons were teenagers, two of them lived with me full time and the third was usually there on weekends so out fridge back then was pretty much the same. Three teens, three different sets of tastes, plus me. Every now and then I'd try to reorganize it and clean it out and invariably there would be some stuff in Tupperware that was no longer even recognizable.

Fortunately, in that house I also had a decent sized pantry with shelves. Thins would get lost in there too but they were easier to find. Trying to find stuff in a fridge is always tricky because you're bending down and peering into a relatively small enclosed space.

I can imagine it coming out that way for a South African - one person I know says "bear" for "beer". But after a couple of attempts at bad Aussie accents I can see where it might turn into something like that.

  1. I accidentally changed my work Windows password, using a system that I didn't think was related to the Windows password and hadn't realised that's what I was changing. The password changes actually said that they had failed - 3 times before I gave up - so I didn't think that I had actually changed any password at all. Imagine my surprise when I then couldn't log on to my work account. BUT I put 2 and 2 together and remembered the new password. Which is impressive in itself after 3 'failed attempts' at creating a new password.
  2. Realised that the reason I can't change it to something that I want it to be is probably because of a 24hr change limitation. Hopefully I can change it on Monday.
  3. I received the refund voucher from my cancelled flight.

1. Husband's elective shoulder surgery today went well. (He had a car accident decades ago, and this surgery was to prevent worsening of arthritis. He comes home tomorrow morning and starts physical therapy next week.)

2. Tried a pizza place I have been meaning to try for years now. It was pretty good, and the server offered to bring the pizza to my car when it was ready. So she got to meet the new dog too :)

3. Found a very small Asian supermarket. Bought a bunch of different noodles and got advice from the owner. She suggested I may want to make rice soup.

  1. Burgers yesterday were successful. Mum didn't complain about hers being undercooked so I must have timed it right (she normally overcooks things).
  2. Went indoor rockclimbing with my bro. It was pretty fun and my anxiety subsided once we got started. I'll need to train grip strength for next time though - my forearms are going to be super sore tomorrow.
  3. That was the first real thing I've done with my brother since I got here (aside from briefly helping him with some stuff). I think he's having some 'life monotony' issues so I'm pleased that I could help him do something different, as well as helping myself do something different too.

1. Husband is doing well. One more night in the hospital for pain management.

2. Got a lot done in the chores department (by waking up at 5 am, so I left plenty of time to procrastinate :D ).

3. The other pets are still very friendly to the kitten -- including letting him use their beds (even though he has his own).

1. Went for a walk + short jog this morning.

2. Didn't have any negative run ins with all the offlead dogs that people walk in the park. The most disconcerting dog is an airedale who lopes around alone at the rugby field - no idea who the owner is, considering it has nothing to entertain itself with on the field. Although there's a little terrier that last week barked and circled me for the offense of walking past it on the footpath when it was trailing behind its owner by about 4 metres (and therefore inciting its friend dog to do the same) - seems to be less threatened and not bark at strangers walking past when it's closer to its owner.

3. Although I still didn't get much work done yesterday, I finished the main section that I'd aimed to do.

Bonus: The wifi was left on overnight for once, although I didn't make use of it because I went to bed fairly early and didn't wake up until 5am when I went to go turn it on.
