Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

@David Baxter yeah the fires are nuts. :(
My family and I haven't been affected other than the smoke in the air. It must be terrifying for people living in those areas.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. Not coughing so much from the smoke. I didn't close my apartment up well enough over the weekend so inhaled too much but I'm doing a bit better now.
2. Only a few days til I can try to forget about work for awhile. I found a value I can use for my task. But as a result I realised another value is useless.
3. There's a big daddy longlegs spider in the bathroom and another one on the door to the locker room. They are venomous but their fangs are too small to bite humans so they're not dangerous at all which is definitely a positive thing.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. After a not very good start to the morning I'm doing a bit better now.
2. My equations don't work but I'm just going to show them to someone else and hope that they can show me where I'm wrong.
3. Both nervous about and looking forward to in-person therapy session on Thurs.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. Passed my calculations to someone for checking/fixing. They enjoyed that subject at uni whereas I would always get things muddled/wrong so it's in better hands now.
2. I have an idea for the next part of the task and will see if I can explore it through the rest of the week.
3. On holidays tomorrow for the rest of the year. It's been a long year.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

Gooblax funny holiday story #1:

I didn't have any small water bottles to bring on my flight, so I picked one up at the store on the way to the airport. There was like 5mins between buses so I grabbed one quickly.

Got to the airport with plenty of time even though the 2nd bus ended up being 10mins late. Once I boarded the plane I decided to take a sip of water. So I opened the bottle.

It hissed and sprayed water all over my lap. It was SPARKLING WATER.

Why does anyone drink this stuff?! Luckily the person hadn't sat beside me yet, and I'm not sure if the person in the aisle saw. So I have a (suspiciously?) wet lap for the flight. Hope it dries. :)

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. Enjoying the sci-fi drama movie Clara about an astronomer searching for intelligent life after personal tragedy.

2. Semester is finally finished. Six more credits to go :)

3. Had some good memories come back of my late grandfather making espresso. Most of my memories of my grandparents are bitter sweet, but fuzzier memories seem to have the sweet without the bitter.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. Internet cabling guys are coming out today to install the NBN network (Australia's overblown, overpromised, overrated new network with 7 different types of installation being performed in different areas) at my parents' place. Soon I'll be able to use wifi on my phone rather than mobile data inside when it's such a poor signal that I have to stretch my phone up in the air and wait 4 minutes for a page to load after trying to load it 3 times.
2. I am super nervous about them coming but there's only 3hrs 13mins left in their arrival window for them to appear.
3. My family don't have to take time off work to be there when they come, because I'm here instead.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

Bonus: survived the install when they arrived, all went successfully to put it in the spot my parents wanted it, and we have a working wifi signal again. My 3rd NBN appointment for 3 different addresses... Thankfully I can't imagine a scenario where I'd be dragged into attending a 4th.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. Had fun taking my elderly neighbor out for lunch.

2. Only $13 at Amazon for an outside door handle for my car door. (Dealership quoted $136, which provided free comedy.)

3. Yesterday, husband's friend helped us fix the wire enclosure for our catio (cat patio), which had snow damage last month. We made it sturdier this time.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. There are so many daddy longlegs spiders in my parents place that I haven't been bothered to name any.
2. Today I put away all the stuff I had to pull out of a cupboard (a couple of days ago) to find something.
3. Cool weather.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

Haha actually the two most disconcerting spiders are in the shower, so it is good to be out of the "rain" and proximity to the spiders. They're not fans of shower "rain" either so it was a foolish place to build a web.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. Elton John concert was awesome last night. :D The seats had a better angle than the purchasing website showed so that was a good surprise, and my family enjoyed the show too. Dad especially. I really tried to be 'in the experience' rather than in my head which was a difficult swap but there were a few moments where I was successful with that.
2. Just came back from indoor rockclimbing with my brother. It was fun even though I'm worse at it now than I would have been when I was 12 years old. Not sure I'd be ready to go on my own to a bouldering gym though.
3. Watching a show called Mighty Planes. :)
