Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

Nah I don't have any decorations. I live in an apartment with no kids in the block so no one's going to come trick-or-treating.
At my first (ground floor) apartment I drew a paper bat and stuck it on my door, and bought some mini chocolate bars for a neighbour's kid (he was the only one to come).

My parents' neighbourhood is a definite hot zone for trick-or-treaters though, so we used to put up some cotton 'webs' and wear masks when we answered the door. I dunno why we bothered with the fake webs when we quite easily could've had real ones with real spiders LOL.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. I saw the big daddy long legs spider before she had a chance to climb onto my backpack and scare the **** out of me later.
2. Booked flights for xmas holidays, so now I just need a plan for what to do when I don't have family stuff to do. Pretty keen for a holiday and need to find a way not to waste it.
3. Only 4 days til the weekend...

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. My newest step granddaughter is being born next week.

2. Learned a lot while shopping for baby items. Also got a warmer for baby wipes :)

3. Miracle of frozen foods: enjoyed onion soup made in Quebec.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. I have an interesting task to work on that was actually making me feel glad to be going to work today.
0. After investigation and talking to someone, the task seems doomed to failure as there is no data to use to do it. I've told the boss, so now will have to have a chat with the chief engineer to see what they want to do and how many assumptions upon assumptions they're comfortable with us trying to progress with.
1. Got a free donut.
2. Long meeting today about how they're trying to fix the situation for employees.
3. The real benefit of having been at this company for so long is that I know almost all the people I'm sitting near, despite having moved teams. I know the people I have to ask for data, and am OK with them knowing that I don't know everything and having to ask questions. I know the chief eng and can tell them that we don't have enough data to do this super critical task, and I'm not afraid of the outcome. In the old days this task would have stressed me out immediately, but I'm OK with it at the moment. So at the least, a level of comfort leading to apparent progress.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. Chief wants me to proceed with the doomed task. Oh well, interesting for me even if it's going to be unproductive.
2. Remembrance Day service.
3. New pokemon game comes out this Friday.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. The chair I'm sitting in at work isn't the other dude's chair, so I can take the armrests off without a problem... Once I bring in a screwdriver.
2. I moved the screens around a bit so hopefully I won't get such a sore neck as I did yesterday.
3. Lunch with a few people today.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

BONUS: Had 600 miles (each way) of road-trip therapy with some country music at some points for extra therapeutic value :)

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

  1. Told my bf about some important things that we need to address in our relationship, that I've been avoiding bringing up for years because of how he might feel about it. :panic: He's replying now.
  2. Had a good day at work. Managed to have a 1:1 meeting with someone to ask them a bunch of questions, and I think I came across like a normal person asking questions (rather than as a dumb weirdo).
  3. Pokemon game's not arriving til Tuesday :( (although the postal service website says it's arriving tomorrow... so I dunno, hopefully). But that means I don't have to choose between the game and doing an after work thing with my new team.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. Played 30mins of pokemon last night, and 4.5hrs over the weekend. For an ex-gamer that's not a lot of time but it's way longer than any other weekend lately.
2. It's a pretty awesome game.
3. Got a meeting today with hopefully some direction on what I'm meant to be doing.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. I had to run a brief apartment assembly thing yesterday which went fine.
2. I have my dot points ready for today's appointment.
3. Team meeting today, and maybe a new task that I can actually make some progress on. If not, I have a document to try and understand.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

The meeting was cancelled and I'm confused about the report... Not looking promising haha

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

To make up for the failed 3rd positive, here's re-3: Therapy session went well.

I spoke about the dot point/s and had to refer to them when I couldn't figure out how to get words out, although I didn't go through each point. He apologised this time for saying the thing that he said, which was an improvement. Last time I managed to say that it sucked without getting into how it felt, whereas this time I was visibly more emotional about it so that probably helped him identify the level of suckiness I was meaning. It got a bit annoying when he kept trying to justify saying what he said, but I accept that he didn't mean it to come out the way it came out (even though I still don't understand how you form those words with your mouth without meaning to say what those words mean... Yes there was a context to it, but even in the context of the conversation we were having those particular words don't take on a different meaning... So I dunno what planet he lives on where words mean entirely different things but ok sure, some people are imprecise in their language, and apparently some significantly less precise than others).

I'm still going to see him next month and I told him I wanted to do a goal review, so that should work.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. Found much better drops for my eye allergies (OTC ketotifen), so now I can wear contacts again after 5 years of not doing so. Got tired of my eyeglasses getting dirty so quick :)

2. Making my own cranberry sauce for (American) Thanksgiving on Thursday.

3. Chickens finished molting, so they have shiny new pretty feathers.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. Imagining Daniel covered in small downy chicken feathers with only glasses visible, then backing away leaving a human-sized feather statue wearing the glasses.
2. Sent my highschool friend a message about catching up over the holidays, after discussing it a bit last therapy session.
3. Got an almost immediate response back. She sounds very keen to catch up... So now I'm anxious about it but at least I have a few weeks to get used to the idea.
