Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. Found a new therapist on Psychology Today that I start seeing this week.

2. Found a new delicious beverage -- ginger lime by Sparkling ICE.

3. Had the best cooked eggs I have had in years (at the Cracker Barrel).

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. Wearing clothes that I was prepared to get very wet on the way to work. My shoes are soaked through, so good call.
2. Localised flooding on the road - I know where not to get off the bus this afternoon if it doesn't go down. May compromise getting to my therapy session on time though. One section of road normally gets so that buses won't go through it.
3. It doesn't matter that the bus is dripping water from the roof onto me, because I'm wearing a raincoat and the aforementioned wet clothes.

The last time I was on a bus, I was trying to hurry back before the cruise ship left the port. But we had plenty of time it turned out, or I would have called a taxi. It's always interesting to sometimes see a few stragglers though running to the ship (while looking down from the comfort of the ship's balcony).

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

Yikes, I would be so paranoid about missing the cruise deadline.

As it is, I'm having trouble deciding whether to ride my bike home today or tomorrow (I left it at work, but rain is forecast for the next week). I'm leaning towards tomorrow, just because I won't have such an important getting home deadline so can take longer if there's flooded areas etc. It will likely mean rain during the ride but I'll be better prepared for that tomorrow vs today.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

The buses don't have bike racks on the front?
 I totally forgot that was a thing in the US. I was SO confused when I caught a bus over there and someone was attaching their bike to the front of the bus. Like "omg what is she doing?!" They absolutely do not have them here.

Edit: The drivers aren't meant to allow bikes to come on the bus either, but if it's a nice driver, and you can sweet talk them, and the bus is basically empty... then they might let you. I'm not game to try it but I've seen someone else succeed.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

I remember now. And not having racks makes sense. Getting right in front of a bus is something I would avoid :)

I know right? You'd have to be pretty trusting to step out in front of a bus - even one that's parked waiting for passengers to get on. I feel nervous enough on my bike when I'm riding past a bus that's parked at a stop ("Ok don't pull out, I'm sure you can't see me so I'll go further into the lane, as long as a car's not coming behind me..? no I'm good... alright stay there bus, no blinkers no blinkers no blinkers ok now you should be able to see me... aaannd... phew!)

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. Got a lift from someone at work when the bus depo decided to close part of the route for no good reason.
2. Only briefly considered going home, because there's 2 meetings today.
3. Got my bike to ride home in the rain, so it doesn't matter to me if the depo don't re-open the route this arvo.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. New eye doctor was very nice and gave me a free sample of eye drops.

2. Optician was very helpful, especially when I asked him for his opinion.

3. Got a good deal on a smartphone (new iPhone 6s Plus for $150). Bought it for my elderly neighbor so I can send her cat memes and text messages.

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

Glad to hear that your eye doctor appointment went well @Daniel :) Did you get the new glasses to replace the scratched ones?

I don't want to speak too soon and curse myself to a wet ride, but the sun is out, there's no rapidly moving coloured blobs on the weather radar, and I'm cautiously optimistic about getting home with less mud splatter.

Don't you just hate those rapidly moving colored blobs? Layabouts and whipper-snippers, the lot of them. Blocking the sidewalks at shopping malls with hoodies and their pants at their knees. They all need to get jobs and haircuts and stop bothering normal folks.

Yeah, I ended up ordering the same frame as last time but in a different color, and the new frames are also two-toned. Otherwise, wasn't ready to make a big life change :D Also ordered extra tinting on the Transition lenses so they will be darker outside.

The other good thing is now I can wear my contacts for longer with the new drops she gave me.

BONUS #2: Sister-in-law is getting a 13-week old Maltese puppy tomorrow. (My husband is already visiting with her and is going to stay an extra day to see the puppy.)

Re: 3 Positive Things Part 6

1. Sister-in-law loves the puppy and is bringing her on Friday for me to see. (Puppy is actually only 8 weeks old and is Maltese mixed with Shih Tzu.)

2. Unlimited 4G data for only $40 a month (using a Verizon wireless provider called Visible).

3. Walmart ginger ale tastes amazing for being only 68 cents for a 2 liter (though not as good as Canada Dry).
