Hmm yeah that could be the problem for me too actually. Paying attention to how I'm feeling I am fairly on-edge. The noise is down to mostly a low running-truck noise and occasional clank (after they dumped gravel onto the unused track area and I had to close my window to avoid dust) but I think it's the unpredictability of the noises, and the fact that they'll start again at any time (as I type this, the neighbours have just started loud hedge trimming!) that's not allowing me to settle into anything.

Over the past 5 hours I've literally only typed 2 emails and not sent them, run a couple of searches for info, and read part of a procedure that I'm not familiar with.

The milo mudslide has me intrigued. ;) Maybe if I ever try to order a cocktail when bars eventually reopen. Then I can ask myself why I didn't just get a milo milkshake from somewhere else that'd be more enjoyable without the taste of alcohol ;)

Alternatively, you might think, "This is pretty good. Maybe next time I should ask for it without the Milo."

Standard mudslide recipe:

Drizzle chocolate syrup inside of the glass and add a few ice cubes to the glass. Combine Bailey's Irish Cream, Kahlua, vodka, milk, and ice in a cocktail shaker.

There's also a frozen version made with ice cream instead of milk.

Some versions use heavy cream instead of milk.

1. Helped my son in another city fix a problem on his computer remotely.

2. Fixed two puzzling problems on servers I manage.

3. Found a replacement Ethernet adapter card on Amazon that was on sale. :)

Chickens eat watermelon @Daniel ?! Do you chop it up into bits or let them peck at larger slices with the skin on?

1. I have been hardcore avoiding the parts of my task that involve communicating with people I don't know about processes I don't know how to do and don't know who to ask. This morning I bit the bullet and sent an email to ask someone if it's their team who are responsible. I was going to call but they were about to go into a long meeting on their calendar and I'm worried my boss will call to check up on me before their meeting is over... So I had to do something.
2. Someone who I asked to approve a drawing replied to my email after 2 days, and said they'd do it.
3. Looking forward to therapy this arvo (and trying to convince myself that it's OK for me to feel that way about it!).

Chickens eat watermelon @Daniel ?!
Yes, they love it more than anything, except possibly worms. I was surprised they liked it so much when I started giving it to them a few years ago, but it seems to be a common finding in the chicken-keeping community :) Two of my dogs like watermelon too, though not nearly as much.

I usually cut the watermelon in quarters (with the skin on) and hand it out that way -- after I take my share :D

They eat everything except the skin, which they leave for me to pick up :)

BONUS: Local pet rescue collected donations of over 2 tons of pet food for stray dogs and cats. (Part of a multi-county effort to feed stray animals up north that normally rely on scraps from tourists.)

BONUS #3: Got a new, bigger frig for almost half off at Home Depot since it was a floor model that had to go. Already delivered and installed with help from two friends. (The old frig is gone since it only warmed up after the motor kicked back in.)

1. Feeling feverish with aches and chills again but it's still not COVID-19!

2. Learned that the bee killing hornets are here in North America. However,

  • turns out Japanese honey bees and perhaps other species have learned to kill them by surrounding them with a ball of regular soldier bees and beating their wings rapidly while inside the killer hornet is heated to about 115 degrees Fahrenheit and dies (basically it's cooked); and
  • they're on the west coast in British Columbia and to fly east they'd have to go through Alberta - with all the redneck right-wing white supremacist gun nuts in Alberta, I doubt they'll even make it to Saskatchewan.
3. Then discovered my cable internet was down in a large area in and around Ottawa. What the hell? How much do they expect a man to take?

4. Bonus: Internet came back up.

1. Not feeling so (emotionally) yuck after going out to get groceries.
2. I WAS ABLE TO BUY SOME FLOUR. Finally after over a month I can make some pancakes. I probably could've bought pancake mix earlier if I was desperate, but I don't understand why anyone would buy that unless they're making pancakes without a standard kitchen.
3. Bought myself some sushi as a treat for lunch. I need to start making sushi again once there's stock of shortgrain rice (no it's not the proper rice for it, but works well enough for me).

That way, there is less time or energy invested to get the pancakes burned or woefully underdone :coffee:

You have better control over the fluffiness of the pancakes if you make them from scratch.

That said, I no longer eat pancakes very often but I do use pancake mix when I want a quick breakfast or lunch. Not nearly as good but they do play a decent part on television.
